Anyone with experience WCing a dual?

Just out of curiosity, anyone with experience watercooling a dual rig?

I've been trying to successfully watercool my rig for quite some time now, and I just can't seem to attain the temps and performance I figured I should be. I'm almost tempted to go back to aircooling, but I'd rather not (considering how much time, effort, and money I've already put in). =(

My current setup goes something like this:
Res -> Eheim 1250 -> BIX with push/pull fan setup -> CPU0 -> CPU1 -> Res

Everything seems to be working okay, but my temps are still pretty high and my water seems to warm up quite a bit as well.

I'm considering going waterchiller but I just don't have that kind of money to burn, plus I don't know what new can of worms I'd be openning with one.

Any suggestions?

You don't mention the type of cpu
My guess is that the rad can't handle the load.
You can try to squeeze another rad between the 2 cpu's, that should lower your temps significantly

I have a dual xeon rig. I highly recommend you use a HC and ditch the BIX.

Have you recorded your ambient temp, water temp, die temp, all at load and idle?

Pretty much the only way to see if anything is actually wrong...

If your water temp is really high above ambient (say ambient 25c and your water temp 30+, on a good setup you wont have more than 1-3c dif) then make sure there are not kinks, your pump isnt over loaded or dying and you are getting good air flow through your rad and you have a big enough rad.

If your water temps are good and die temps really high make sure you mounted the blocks well and you have no bubbles in your lines.

I think that's the problem here. That BIX just can't handle the load unless you use 2 big-ass fans on it and even then i doubt it will ...

Me I'm going dual Opteron 244 1.8Ghz (CEP5AL/CEP5AU stepping is PC3200 compatible, I have the CEP5AU stepping) cpus (I have them, I'm merely waiting for the MSI K8T Master2-FAR(It uses non-AMD hsf mountings), agp card and 512Mb registered Samsung pc3200 ram) and I was thinking of using one of those Rads that are at least 120x240mm in size, That and 2-Swiftech MCW6000-PX which Swiftech has said will fit the dimensions that I supplied for the 8-bolt holes that are in the motherboard, At least once I get rid of the heatsink retension mechanisms located there of course, Then I'll need that radiator mount of swiftechs, So that the Rad will mount to the back of the case, It uses 60-120mm fan holes for mounting It. But anyway then I'll need to get their best 12v pump (or someones 1/2"OD type pump, 110v would require a card to turn the pump on and off with the system) and a dual 5.25" drive bay resorvoir, 2-Y Tubes for the 2 cpus (1/2"OD on the single end and 3/8"OD on the dual ends), Some 6'-1/2"ID(I already have 8') and 8'-3/8"ID Tubing for the setup and 2-Chrome 120mm fans for the Radiator Itself. I'm not going to bother with cooling the Video card or the Northbridge as there isn't much need for It being there won't be much in the way of overclocking as It's just limited to FSB, some core voltage and with no agp/pci lock(1.55vdc max. I think). What do You think? Oh and the email text below will help explain some of what I mean by the 8 bolt holes.

It would be about like this:

Rad----/cpu0\--pump--Dual 5.25" drivebay res--Rad(120x240mm)
Wye....\cpu1/



These dimensions correspond to Xeon retention mechanisms (as well as s423, you are correct).

If you use a 533Mhz system bus board, the MCW6000-PX is your part number
If you use an 800Mhz system bus board ("nocona" processor), then you will need a new spring retention that we are going to release shortly.
