Default Help?

I am never going to get around to that Water Cooling wikipedia/FAQ. I am never going to get the Pro/Links in the shape it should be. Would someone want to come on the staff and take on the responsibility for this? It has to be someone who (a) knows what they are talking about (b) is willing to cross reference/look things up/read a lot/learn (c) has the spare time to actually do it. If it will take 2 or 3 people to make it happen then that might work too. What would you get out of it? Drop me an e-mail at phaestus@procooling.com if you are interested and want to help out.

I would gladly help on the ProLinks but not sure I am qualified for it. I have plenty of spare online time (hell you know how much I live here) that I would rather have with my tools but that isn't an option unfortuantly. Not sure Joe would want me on Staff anyway. But I am up to trying. Let me know...

There are two levels of help for pro/links:
1) submitting links when you come across them
2) Coming up with a better classification system to organize them and navigate them.

1) requires only a keen BS detector (to keep such out of the link db)

Also Greenman and HammerSandwich have offered to help with this endeavor.

JayDee I am tempted to take your little articles on DIY block tools and construction as a barebones wikipedia entry and then get you and everyone else in the WB construction forum to fill them in with tons of links and guides and summaries until it's comprehensive.

That would be just fine. I will ponder on a classification system. Might do something similar on my own site aswell.

I am willing to help, but I must be paid in high grade uncut heroine, and have it delivered in person every other day.

If we can work something out please let me know

Also what benifits do you offer as far as 401K, Dental, etc... ? Paid Vacation options or sick leave?

There are several wiki software options to choose from; currently evaluating which one is best for Procooling's project and then I'll get Joe to set it up

I guess I should mention that now I am far too busy with LAN stuff as we are in a run up to the event and I have about 35 code changes for the LAN software I am working on.

There's no need to write one if good apps exist for free Joe. Does server have SQL support? I can probably get it going myself. Your lan is October; that's a helluva runup

Ive been working on it pretty much non stop since end of June. So yes it is. I can honestly say more work has gone into this event coming up than I ever put into procooling in 3 years Lots of ground work for future events is also being worked on. Lots of networking of people.

Edit: Just thinking about it. Theres more money tied up in this next LAN than all the money thats moved through procooling in total since it was brought online. Sort of explains why I take it so seriously.

The server has MySQL support, and I will need to set the SQL portions up for any App that uses it on the box. for ease of install and use I would recomend PHP/MySQL based.

If any help is still needed on anything, I too offer my assistance
I can even add a European point of view since there seems to be a bit of fencing going on between US-EU on certain subjects (tubesize comes to mind )

Just give me a ring when needed

I wouldn't call that 'fencing'. Everybody knows we have bigger 'tubes' here in the US.

I can also offer advice/help on php/mysql/sysadmin stuff, but I know you typically don't want too many sets of hands making simultaneous changes/having lots of access in a project of that sort.

edit: Add perl and mysql tuning to my list of skills, just in case. I'm not sure any of the other ones apply to this project.

I'll watch for and contribute usefull articles I see. Will however need a secondary BS detector for problems I may miss.

Very sure I'm not up to the other work in progress here.

Maybe you could create a submission page for links, that people could access, just a textbox for the link and one for a short description. Have it insert it into a temp mysql table, and create a seperate admin page, or use the same one, only check if the user is logged in and has admin privs, don't know how you have the site setup, if you've got access to vBulletin docs that allow you to create add-ons, then you could make it apart of the forums and use it's modderator system to display whether a person can enable a link or not. That way, you've got a centralized place for people to add suggestions, and for admins to check the links for BS, and add them to the apropriate category. I can as always code like a monkey on crack, and I have alot of free time as of late, so there is my offer of assistance, if it's a cool idea and is still needed. I could probably have it up and running on a test box by Monday, shouldn't be that hard, and then you could check it out to see if it's something you would like. Send me a private message or something if you're interested. I don't want credit and am not asking for anything, ProCooling has been very good to me and I just want a chance to give back something.
