I can't believe that made it to the production stage.

I don't know if this would have the desired effect on impressing visitors to your home:

Thermaltaco owner: Hey check it out! I have a new PC with LED fans and neon cold cathodes and a window and a custom to the extreme silent watercooling system!

Visitor: Hey man what's the deal with that massive gnurled dildo connected to your PC?

Well, all I can say is that I'm relieved that there appears to be a sturdy mounting bracket on the bottom. I think these are selling for $200 at the local Fry's computer store.

Should have called it the Ron Jeremey Convection .... whatever.

Who would buy this thing? A noticable boost in performance (as the flash animation states)? You've got to be kidding me. I might believe it if I saw it in the back of Men's Health under the title "Bedroom Toys". Do Thermaltake's product designers do any research?

Hmm, it also warms itself if you leave it on long enough... NICE.

I love how they add the arrows showing the motion of the...ummm.. thing...

Your request has been sent to our management. We will contact with you as soon as possible.

Again, thank you for visiting www.thermaltake.com.
Continue to explore our site.
I asked for review samples of their complete kits. Honestly a good system testing roundup SHOULD include Thermaltake and Zalman even though they aren't particularly popular for the fringe element we attract here.

A cupholder for your PC

That, and I mean this, is close to a good idea. What would be nice is if it could keep the beverage chilled.

Put a prescott in that loop and your "rocket" will get nice and sweaty.... in no time. Perfect for the girl, or um, guy, who has way too much spare time and cavity space

I feel like going to thermaltake's headquarters, taking the company's president by the collar, shake him around a little bit while yelling at him "This is your idea of a water cooling system? You disrespectful little crap! Have you so little imagination that when you looked at this thing for the first time you didn't say to yourself 'maybe it shouldn't look like a d!@k."

Doesn't matter. He'd probably misconstrue the conversation and make the cap look more like a mushroom top.

Go have a look at the silentPC watercooling forum - seems like at least 90% of the posts have something to do with the reserator - so there is a market for these things.

reserators are a good place to start, I've been using 2 but as I now have more pc's I'm thinking of building a custom tank.

Currently I'm cooling the cpu, video card and hard drives (using a dual silent star box).
(now looking for a northbridge cooler)

Unfortunately i have too many pc's in my 19" rack to cool each of them with a reserator so I'm thinking about having a custom tank built that will mount on the side of my 19" rack.

The dimensions of the tank will be 1" x 26" x 60"

The cubic volume of the tank will be about 25 liters plus the piping etc.

This compares with the Zalman reserator at 2.5 liters.

I'll probably be cooling 4 pc's (using 4 independant pumps) thinking of using submersible pumps but then I'd need to drain each time I replace a pump so maybe not worth it - might be better to mount them on the outside with a stopcock feeding each pump about 7 inches apart for each pc (they are mounted in 4 ru cases).

Has anyone seen something like this before?

TIA,
Dean

I don't know anything much about reserators - but I'd suggest thinking about surface area - or finned area, although that gets a bit more complex. Slow moving air may not even move into the areas between fins if they're too close together.
Then there's the whole issue of laminar air flow - slow moving air will "stick" to a surface as it moves alongside it - so you end up transferring heat to the same thin layer of air as it rises up alongside your tank-erator - so the heat differential (and heat transfer efficiency) becomes less as you go upwards.
I keep thinking that one common thing built for passive heat transfer (all-be-it at a 30C heat differential) is the pipe-and-fin stuff that goes into hot water heat registers. Too bad the fins aren't vertical...
On the other hand, you could use a couple of really big heater cores (or a car radiator, even) and a couple of very quiet fans...
