The normal P4 mounting for hs/fan would no longer work then right?

I like this idea alot. I can only hope that the adapter will not cover the 478 mounting holes. I've seen benchmarks indicating that a pentium M overclocked to 2.5ghz is comparable to an A64 4000+ at stock speeds. I should mention that the pentium M had the deficit of an 855 chipset compared to an nForce3.

I was looking into trying to do something like this myself a little over a year ago, and after looking at the signals for the two sockets decided I'd never be sucessful. I'm SO happy to see a big company take the problem on and make a solution. Using the DFI 855GME and a 1.7GHz Dothan (now 2.55GHz) I can say I'd MUCH rather be using a socket 478 board. Of course, when the Alviso based boards come out, I think I might be more partial to using them instead of this adapter... depending on costs of course.
I also wonder how the BIOS is going to deal with this. Are they going to give access to the multiplier? And how are they going to deal with CPU voltage options?

notice the board covers 2 of the 4 mont holes that will stop most water coolers fitting unles they use the retension clip.
