If you wanted some AC fan speed controllers, now's the time - they're $1.02 (figures I'd have all I need already)
Speed Control for 115V Fans Note not for sale by me - just something I ran into... Last edited by bobkoure; 05-02-2005 at 11:05 AM. Reason: update - sale now over at scientifics |

Does that just decrease the voltage, or can it actually alter the frequency?

I'll find out when I get 'em!
![]() (I wouldn't count on a frequency change though; it's a pretty small package) |

I got them.
It's a simple circuitboard, 1" x 1", wrapped in a clear plastic. Since you're interested, I'll pick one apart, and report results. |

Finally!
I've got a pic of the unit: It's a rather simple circuit. Note the trimpot on the bottom left. I'll try to run some tests shortly; I've got a spare AC fan begging for this. |

No testing yet. I'll have to slap something together tonight, for everyone's benefit, and report tomorrow.

That looks like the controller on which I did some testing for you. Look up my thread “Taming my Comair Rotron”. In there you will se the testing I did. It was near the end of the first page.

Yep, that's the one.
Sorry, I've been working on too many things lately to keep up with this. I'll try to make some time for it. |

Thanks Brians256 I forgot to put the link in the post.
And yes the controller does change the AC voltage to change the RPM of your fan.
