Hi all.
At the moment im just using straight watercooling on CPU/GPU. But im going to repair my prommy and it seems a shame to only use my watercooling for just the GPU. So im thinking about digging out my old TEC kit and putting it onto the X800xtpe. Problem is that all the commercial GPU blocks will only accomodate 40x40mm TEC and my 226 is 50x50. I want to keep my existing TEC as I allready have a 0-15v 40amp ajustable PSU for it .. so I can easily tweak the voltage. My current CPU block can be used with TEC but it wont fit on the GPU as the barbs will hit the PCI card below and mounting it would be a pain. So I either want to mod an existing block so I can use my TEC on the GPU. Or build something entirely new. Looking at what winchlabs are making a design using an array of pins seems like a good idea. I did look at modding a swiftech 6002 but it has a step in the base that would be trouble to mill away. I remember that you could buy a 1U heatsink that was lots of pins, but I forget the name and I cant find one using google.. anybody got any idea what it was? I think this could be fairly easily made into a TEC block. The other solution would be to buy an existing GPU block with a base larger than 50x50mm .. mill it flat and then make a custom coldplate/mount to run the TEC. Problems with this seem to be that most current GPU blocks look like they might struggle to work at such a high wattage. Unless somebody can think of a CPU block I can mod in the same way and fit onto the GPU without taking up too much space. Ive looked about and ive not found anything suitable yet. I dont have a huge ammount of time to make stuff these days so a simple solution would be best. Has anybody got any ideas? Thanks for any help. Matt / Holst. |
