I just moved my K6-3 system to a cheap-ass case so I can mod my Chenbro one for my watercooled Duron setup, but I've run into a problem with floppy drives. I didn't have a spare drive for the second system, so I just disabled it in bios, along with the floppy seek and start from A: options. Trouble is, Win98 (first edition) is convinced it's got a 1.2Mb 5-1/2" drive. I deleted the floppy drive from device manager, but still I get this damn 5-1.4" drive.
Any suggestions as to how I can get Windows to realise that is hasn't got a floppy drive? TIA ------------------ Melvyn |

Yeah, very common problem in Windows. Sometimes you can find an option in the bios, "Report no floppy for Win95", short of doing that tho, there's nothing you can do, other than use a UI Tweak program to make the floppy drive not show under My Computer..

I used my hard drive to boot another computer up...my copy of windows got flooded with crap in the device manager. I had to go through it all in safe mode and delete pretty much everything. It works perfectly now, but the floppy drive is shown as a removable disk instead of a 3½ floppy drive. I also cant access the floppy. Cables are snug and i have deleted the floppy controller driver in device manager...no floyy is showing up under the drives menu in the device manager though.
