Default Results from testing with external probe vrs. onboard

Here are the results for the XP1600+ at 1.85Vcore at 1400MHZ.

This is the CPU temp from external probe that is touching the side of the core.

how are your temps affected? Like measuring from the in socket thermistor without the hole, to the in socket thermistor with the hole?

That is my biggest concern, and many other people's about doing that

Actually they seem pretty much the same!!! I was running 32C before milling the channel and now 32C after. Thats with the onboard probe.

It is actually not an insocket, it is ontop of the CPU inbetween the block and the CPU touching the core itself..

Well I new I had 1/8" to work with so I milled a little over 1/32". It fit in there ranther nicely. I just took it off and it ended up perfect!!! The thermal compund mark is right on the edge of where the tip of the probe was. I can't see getting much more accurate than without the indie thermister.

have you thought about filling the entire cutout area with AS epoxy?

that'd hold the thermistor in, and give awesome thermal transfer

Thats overkill, I don't plan on this being permanent anyway.

Here is what it looks like after i took it off.

Pretty much the one I am using.

This job requires me to travel. I am gone from 7-30 days at a time. I usually get 1 weekend a month at home when things get going. Not much time to do anything.

Luckily I will be in the shop for a few weeks before I start traveling again. At least I will have a few weekend left.

The job does pay decent. But it is very hard work. We build ALL of Costco Wholesale gas station canopies. From 30-80 a year. Our company only has about 15 employees so needless to say we keep very busy when Costco decides to start building. Usually it is around April but this year they seem to want to start early. Usually when they start early it will be a looooooooog year.

Our company is called Aluminum Products oddly enough, yet we really don't use aluminum anymore. They used to do alot of aluminum work but the Costco gas stations are all steel and sheet metal which we fab up in the shop and ship out to the field and erect. We used to do all types of gas stations but Costco maxes our capacity out so that is primarily all we do now. We also do the metal Mansard and roofing work on Les Swab Tire stores here in the west cost. Mostly just Costco's though.

That reminds me I have 13pcs of Copper and 12pcs of Aluminum stock at 2"x3"x1/2". Roughly those same measurments. And enough thin stock to cap every peice!!!
