Enermax have really bad regulation on the 12V and 5V lines - if you draw heavily on the 5V line it drops a lot. Mine is just right now and I had to twek it up by about 0.6V

how do you tweak it?

where is a good place to find problems about that psu... or USER reviews of it?

You open it up and adjust one of the pots, do it wrong and your computer will smell really bad.

Why do you need a 650W PSU, are you going to have 20 SCSI drives installed?

It's not actually a 650Watt but a 550Watt that has a lower combined 3.3v + 5v wattage than some good 400 watt PSU's.

The Enermax 651 has no pot adjustment but the 5v rail can be increased by the insertion of a 1K ohm pot in line with R82 on the PCB. I didn't have a 1k ohm pot so just used an 820 ohm resistor instead.

here are my voltages now with a EG651P-VE.

I also had a 400 Watt Antec recently but I never even plugged it in. I opend it up and it was such a mess inside with little extra PCB's and add on wires it was no good for my use.

The Enermax is working fine and just to ensure this topic stays in the water cooling forum here's a pic of mine water cooled

well im gonna run 4 3.5 hard drives... (only 2 right now) a cd burner, cd drive, 3 120mm fans, and a few neons... and i wanna make sure that the powersupply can be ready to do a massive OC to a processor that comes out in the next year or 2

i guess i just want to make sure that i have enough power so that nothing dips

Well if you want insurance, spend the extra and get the new Antec 510 watt that should be out real soon. They have adjustable pots inside and usually better voltages than the Enermax. Combined 3.3v & 5v power will probably be higher to.

PC power & cooling do high spec 450 & 600 watt psu with 1% rated fluctuations but you will pay for it.

Have a look at Antec's site

i also liked it cause of how it looked with the cool black case and gold grills... the lower wattage with the blue case looks nice too the variable fans were pretty cool too... but its not like i couldnt add that guess ill just get a good psu around 500watts and paint it

damn... id have to say your setup is already the shit....
what kind of paint can you use to make it durable? like the stuff on cases... i painted the inside of my case with a few coats of primer... a few coats of normal paint and a few coats of clear coat.... still started to chip off any time i hit it with the edge of a drive or anything =/ i dont wanna bother painting unless its as durable as the powder coating on normal cases

The red PSU is not mine just something I came across where researching the PSU water cooling. does look nice in red.

I suppose you could have the parts powder coated but it would cost. i will use cellulose car paint (spray can's) and bake the finish in the oven. Should be fairly durable, after all a PSU should not be bashed about.

the blue ones are a lot better with the 5v and 12v lines supposedly, but I haven't heard of any reviews yet.

Also, the antec 510w is WTX, for the thunder k7

I'd just go with one antec 400w, it'll do fine

will the atx psus still be working on the new mobos in a year or 2? or are they gonna add some weird power connector like the p4's... or completely make a new form factor?

I can see a 4pin 12v, 6pin at and 20pin atx doing for the most power hungry boards for a while. Or using some hdd connectors for 5v and 12v power.

if any more is needed, I can see WTX becoming the standard (hopefully) with 24pin + 8pin + 4pin. Also the WTX standard includes support for 9 slots, which would mean agp slot moved down a couple of slots for more room around the cpu socket, and one free slot for agp card coolers, or something like that. Personally I'd like to see WTX become standard

Does baking given the pairt more durability or is it just a quick way of drying it?

BladeRunner, i the above MBM pic of yours, you show HDD temp readings. How did you get MBM to read the HDD's temps?

thanks

the seagate barracudas have thermal diodes in them... MBM can read the temps off of those

that is really quite cool of seagate to do that, but what happens when it overheats? if it shuts off it might damage data, if it made a noise I guess that'd be ok..

I would assume the spindle just slows down quite a bit for a while until temps stablilize... It takes a lot for an HD to overheat though.

Almost all hard drives which support S.M.A.R.T. (and there's not many which doesn't) have temp sensors inside. I don't know how to get mbm5 to read it, but smartfan can read it.

(I don't have the smartfan URL right now so if someone posted it I would be happy.)

EDIT: My grammar looks like babelfish, cleaned up a little.
