Default Freon cooling help

Guys I'm looking for some info on sizes for and evaporator and condesor for a freon cooling system. There must be some way to calculate how big of a condensor/evaporator you need to balance out the system. Also I need to know where in the system the dryer goes. Is it right on the return line just before the compressor? I've come across lots of great info here on the forums on building freon cooled systems, but no one seems to have assembled one from just old parts. (except scfoster) Any help would be appreciated.

I picked up a 1/4HP Tecumseh oil cooled unit. Its very srong and the guy said it should have no trouble running 24/7 as long as its well ventilated. I was thinking of using a 1/4" copper tubing wound into a 4" diameter coil, about 6" long (about 10' of straight tubing). Is this too much? I will be cooling between 2 and 5 liters of 66:33 water/methanol mixture. The pump flow rate is 230gph at one foot. Should I use a capiliary tube or would a "tx" valve better? (TX valve is sometimes known as a CPE valve keeps the pressure constant going into the evaporator.)

Thanks

everything sounds good there, apart from your pump, as others have found out, with a low powered pump the water in the res can turn into a semi ice mixture, or completely into ice. You need to get hold of a 600gph or higher pump if you want to run well below 0C

The freezing point of the 66:33 water/methanol blend is about
-40 DegC so I don't see that as a problem. I'm sure I won't be venturing that low as much as I'd like to . I started on my evaporator today. I'm using a small bulb 2"x3" as the initial point of contact for the liquid freon. It will then be sent through the 1/4" copper tubing. I'm hoping the extra volume the bulb provides will help me drop the temperature of the liquid.

ok, I thought it was much more than -40C, more like -5C or something.

I'd keep the outlet pipe as close to the evaporator as possible, to get the coolest water to the cpu

According to this chart provided by rockstarbob in overclockers forum here its -37.3 Deg F
-37.30 degF = -38.50 degC so I shouldn't have and freezing issues
