I recently got my system all hooked up, I ordered an eheim 1048, and all I'm cooling is my CPU
Ok here's my setup. I have an XP1900 unlocked running at 10.5x167 which is reporting as 1765Mhz. I have a blaceice radiator. No mod just a black ice, with a panaflo M1A, and a Maze2 from danger den. I have a lian li PC65 case, and my black ice fit perfectly right behind the front stock intake fans so I have the stock intake fans, then the radiator, then my panaflo. Anyways, after letting it run for a couple days to make sure nothing leaked, I put it in. Anyways my idle temps depending on how I run my fans are 34-36C and my load temps are 39-40C. This is reported with the onboard thermister. My temps with air cooling before were 43-45C idle, and 48-50C load here's some shots of doing and getting ready for watercooling

Looking good actually. I would say those temps are good for that setup. The Epox boards do pretty good with the onboard probes. I have tested the 8K7A and I know a Guy at another forum that tested the 8KHA and the onboard probe was within 1C.
Water temp is the Crucial temp though, room temp tells jack for a water cooing system. I hate seeing reviews of water blocks without the water temp!!! Anyway I think you did just fine. For having everything inside the case and that overclock the temps look good to me. Pretty good weather we have been having lately in Spokane, hows it been down there? |

Pretty nice down here in Wally World too. I just stuck my bezel on the case and my temps increased to about 38C idle, man I need to get those stock fans out, and some panaflos in and I need to mod my front Bezel...
I also my setup goes Rad>pump>block>rad I did this for a reason of not having alot of bends in my hose. I need to replace 1 hose as I cut it kinda short, you can probably tell which one from the picture ![]() Also I just have distilled water in it, but I wanted some opinions of on this water wetter stuff? or Purple Ice. I was just gonna use some more distilled water and some anti-freeze. But if anyone has some suggestions on decreasing my temps a little more I would appreciate it. These temps are alot better then before, I was expecting kinda lower, but then again I'm killing alotta noise in my system, so I'm sure running fans at lower rpms might have something to do with it. I got a crystalfontz lcd module on the way, and I'm gonna write a program for it, that as temps increase fans will spin up. Also is it possible to get a pelt that may only decrease temps by 10-12C and will plug into your powersupply? Something that I wouldn't have to worry about condensation

You need to try and rig up a water temp probe. That way you can see how much warmer the water is over the air temp. That will tell you if it is the block or the RAD or neither that is the problem. Faster fans on the rad will probably help but it may add noise aswell. You can't get both so you will have to come up with an equel medium. |

I'd say those temps are about right, maybe just a little high though.
Try a more powerful fan on your radiator, even just temporary, to see if thats a weakness, try remounting your block a couple of times, try a ziptie around a cable to slightly reduce the flow, see what happens. Your basic setup is very good, you've got good block, pump, rad, but you might need to do a bit of tweaking

Since you had to get rid of the hdd cage were are you keeping your hdd? The bottom 3.5inch faceplate seems modded, what's there? Finally, how snugly does your BI fit there, does it take up the whole width of the computer?
I like the look. I'll be doing this to a PC-68 with the same equipment. Edward |

What you see modded is a cover for the harddrive. Thats where my harddrive is at, I've always had my drive there so that the harddrive wouldn't block any air flow. When I started getting ready for my water cooling setup, I needed to push it in, so I trimmed one of the covers and attached it to the front of the harddrive and set it accordingly.
As for the black ice it's like these cases were made to fit these radiator. You'll have to mount it sideways theres no choice there. You hafta remove the 3.5 cage place your radiator there then slide the cage back in and I mean the cage holds it right where you need it. nice and firm too. I redone my hoses so now it runs from radiator > Block > Pump but I thought I had all the air out I hooked it all back up, plugged it in, working fine temps are about 1 to 2C lower, I started admirning that my temps vary from 36 to 39C from idle to load, then I heard it, a bubble got inside my pump then my temps rose a tad... Plus I was in a rush and I didn't apply my AS2 correctly.. But I'm gonna do 2 tests... the way I have it in the above pictures, or the way I have it now.... I'm gonna run full fan speed, and slowest fan speed and see which produces a lower average of temps then use that setup and finish mounting the pump and trimming my case so the cord goes out the back

Here's a quick snap of my harddrive I forget to attach. It just shows the drive with the cover I had attached to it.
Anyways, I'm tearing the water cooling back down to get all the air out. This time I'm gonna make sure I get it all.. Once I'm done running my tests, then I'm gonna get some de-ionized water or whatever and get it ready for a long time worth of use.

well I tore it all down, got all the air out. Well when I 1st turn the pump on after it's been sitting I get a noise that sounds kinda like air in it, but I can't see anything but I think I'm gonna put a tiny air trap in that way it's easier to add anti-freeze, hi-lighter, watter wetter, etc...
Anyways I got it all setup, and my temps are what I wanted. My idle to full load temps are anywhere from 33C idle and 36C fullload. This is with some fan control, if I'm running a game I crank the fans up, if I'm surfing I can turn them down... I can control my idle and full load temp and I can keep them at about 35-36C all times load or no load... if I crank the fans as high as they go when folding I can get about 35C even then the noise level is nothing compaired to what I'm used too Also my harddrive is frigging annoying, I'm selling it if anyones intrested. It's a D740X I got the 1st week of januarary works fine, just to noisy for my taste. It's not loud I just want something quiter... It's a 60 giger make me an offer if intrested... I'll have more pics a specs about my current setup soon, but for now I'm going to bed... I was also able to o/c 1785 Stable, but I did get into windows at 1814, but I think for anymore of an overclock I'm gonna need to do a voltage which may be in store soon. ![]()

Next question, would I be able to change out the 2 80mm fans in the front with 92mm fans?

You could fit them, you'd hafta mod a little bit to get them mounted up but they would work. Be kinda tight but hey larger fans same cfm less noise. Now that it was brought up, I may grab a couple a 92mm instead of 80mm.

as long as you have 184mm x 92mm room I can't see why they wouldn't, although it may be an idea to cut out larger grills

it looks like about 200mm of space you could use width wise, and height wise about 110mm. Shoot I may go ahead and just get 92mm fans then, depending on the CFM to dba ratio. If they're really worth it or not. Would be a little work to open the holes up plus the front bezel would restrict some too.

plycon, caseetc, kdcomp should give a decent selection of fans for you to compare dba, price, noise ratings

Gotta love that Enermax 92mm at crazypc, even though the fan speed control is redundant with the Lian-li.

there is still noise produced by the disks themselves, in most of my hdd's I find that to be the most annoying

Same here I don't care if when it's accessing the disk if it makes noise. I kinda like that, but mine makes a high pitch wine. It's not loud or anything. When your having peacful moments the high pitch wine can get a little annoying. I'm buying the quiet model. And i'm gonna sell mine.

I got the Harddrive Jan 2nd I beleive. The 1st monday, It's been my everyday harddrive since then, haven't had any trouble with it. It's 60gig D740X ATA 133, 7200 rpm. I'd let it go for $95.

Actually I just have 80's. I bought 4 panaflo U1A's.
I still want to do the 92mm mod I know it will work fine, you may be able to use the 92mm temporary and just kinda rig them up, without any mods but to get the full benefit you'll need to mod the front of the case. If someone wants to hook me up with a 92mm hole saw I will gladly look into it more, but for right now a 92mm hole saw is kinda spendy, and money is tight for me right now.
