Default A simple question about water cooling

i have done alot of research on water cooling as of lately.it seems like the more i read the more i get confused..right now im running a xp1800 @ 170x10 at 2 volts and with a case temp of 26c and full load i hit at about 40c (motherboard montier) i was needing some of the pros and cons of going to water cooling...do u think i could drop my temps with a good kit from dangerden with the BIX rad..i know alot depends on my setup...and how much danger is there in a good water setup...i guess what im looking for is some reassurance that water will be aworth the time and effort that will go into it...i love all the moding that ya'll have done ....but is it really woth it in the long run...

Thanx for your help

Well, I'm air cooled at the moment, but my kit is on the way. I must say that 70C is outrageous. Mine idles at 50C... not sure how high it gets. Water is alot harder to heat than air. Even a poor water cooler will outperform the best and noisiest HSF.
I've not heard of anyone having trouble w/ leakage, providing that they took appropriate measures to prevent it. (hose clamps, use eheim pumps...)

Well,
I water cooled mine about a month ago. Found it interesting and rewarding since my puter no longer sounds like a cargo plane.

I like being able to say " I did it" and hear myself say it!

One thing I was glad I did do was to buy another case and work on it without trying to rush through the project. This way things turned out nicely.

I dropped my temps about 8c but now I only have 3 LA1's in the case and a couple of 120 MM's running on the heater core at 7v.

I was all worried about leaks and floods, never happened. I did screw up and place my "T" in the wrong place, took about 1 hour to fix it and things are smooth and cool now.

JUST DO IT, then you can say you did.

UP,

I have no idea as to what system or components you are looking at but you might want to checkback in here and see how well the Maze 3 works.

It looks promising, I ordered one today to replace the Maze 2 I am now using.

Those are good temps with air cooling but the 68cfm Delta is to much. You can get the same temps with almost no noise. I am running a XP1600+@1575mhz 2.05Vcore 26C room 29C water and 38C full load with 1 83CFM 120mm Panaflow turned down to 9.5volts. it is quiter than my chipset fan!!!

But if noise is not an issue and you don't really want to go through the process then just stick with what you got!!!

Yeah if you can take the noise. For me, my stuff is still Air but I got a case that is almost finished. I need to get a block still and finish the plumbing. But I can say its been fun to work on. I gets to buy lots of tools And I can't take the noise anymore.... I have currently 3X80mm 23cfm 50mm 17cfm 2x60mm 30cfm and 120mm sunon 107cfm. And that Sheet sounds like like a jet.

Should do fine. I got a SX830 I am working on. Going to stuff it all in there somehow. I got a heatercore instead though. Works great with justg that one one. keeps water temps within 3C of room. I havn't settled on my final design for the watyerblock yet. Once I get my CNC mill going agian I will try out a few more designs. The ones I got do pretty good though.

40C is way optimisitic for that air cooling, your temp probe's smoking some good crack

regardless of that, watercooling will get you cooler temps, and will be much quieter.

7 CNC's!!! Cool. You should make a few water blocks!!! I have a 1988 Ford Escort W/AC heater core that should fit in there. it is kinda big but it will do. If that dosn't work I have a tranny cooler rad that is 3/4" thick and 10" long that will easily fit on the top oif the case on the inside. The heater core works much better but the tranny cooler will do fine.
