I am having an issue with my AOpen Geforce 3 ti200. When I push my FSB over 140mhz, the vid card runs very flakily(eg. DirectX crashes). However when I do the same thing with my old Radeon 64DDR it has absolutely no problem with the AGP bus being higher than normal(it was fine at the max I've seen AGP ever go at 112mhz). However, I am not sure what the AGP bus is running at on my mobo (asus p4s333) because I don't know if there's a 1/2 divider for the AGP.
Does anyone else have similar problems with their vid cards(ti200 or any) running high AGP bus speeds? If so, how can the problem be reduced or eliminated? --Matt |

Sure. This problem was notorious among older video cards actually. Some just hated any fluctuation in the AGP speed. Actually, ATi based cards have historically been very good at handling high AGP bus speeds so it is no surprise thta you are getting those results. Things you can do are take down AGP to 2x instead of 4x via the BIOS. Also, try removing fast writes and sidebanding...

this freakin card is brand new! and sideband and fast writes are dissabled by default in the card's bios so I'd have to mod it to get them on. I'll have to try turning down to agp 2x. otherwise I'll have a gf3 for sale and an 8500 on the way.

I know someone running a gainward ti200 at 100mhz agp speed, I doubt thats the issue.
Try underclocking your video card to see what happens. I do beleive there is a 1/2 agp speed available on the p4s333, I'll find out for you tomorrow
