I was looking at the Geo Tracker core on www.heatercore4u.com/2-646.htm and was wondering if anyone has used this heatercore. With some changes it could fit in tight places with a single 120mm fan.
As a side note I picked up a $20.00 sheetmetal brake at the local B&M Harbour Freight which works good for 19" long pieces of 18 gauge metal. I've been using it for a car restoration, but it would work for thinner gauges for radiator shrouds. |

Those heatercores are insanely expensive. If you want a heatercore that is that small, get a BlackIceExtreme.

Yeah, the import cores are ridiculous, but seem to be the only really small ones.
A little creativity in placement can save you quite a $$$. |

Well I'll tell you what I happen to have one that I had sititng arround forever and funnaly put it together in my rig to test it. It gives the same temps in my system as one of the big rads 9x6 1/8x2. I am using a fan that does 200cfm though.
Anyway here are the temps I was getting with it. I have temps listed for my waterblock and for my maze2. http://community.webshots.com/album/38150901opPARw

Heatercore4u are way too expensive for all their cores, but maybe I can get the Geo core at Autozone for less. After reading almost every post on this forum and all the articles on the web this is my planned cooling system.
5"x5" heatercore(separate intake and exhaust from the rest of the case 120mm Panflo Uniblock waterblock ViaAqua 370gph pump (inline with tee) 1/2" tubing and fittings 1Ghz Tbird @ 1.4Ghz (runs stable 1.85v aircooled) Addtronics server case The uniblock is designed for low flow so maybe the 3/8" fittings on the waterblock will slow the flow enough. Any comments on this planned system would be helpful. Thanks |

The UnaBlock is designed for low flow, but it doesn't HAVE to have low flow.

Thanks for the input. Autozone wanted $275 for the Tracker core, so the search continues for an small economical honeycomb core.

BlackIce Extreme, or if you really are on a tight budget, a simple BlackIce.. Short of that, you're going to have to find a way to fit the standard 6x7" heatercore in.
There is one possibility.. That Geo heatercore from a junkyard.. If you can find a junkyard with that model of Geo in it, you could probably get it off them for $10 or less. Pump some CLR though it for a day or two and it should be good to go. ![]()
