Im redesining my current setup I am currently using a res for ease of filling and to limit pump backpressure. Now if I went w/ a smaller res. would that lower cooling performance? I think that water temps stablize after an hour or so; thus a res wouldnt matter. am I off base? ANyway here are the 2 res. I'm thinkning of making, both articles from sweclockers
smaller res larger res Btw does any1 know any specs of the upcoming Danger Den res? Thanks for the replies |

Some chicks say that width is more important, while others prefer length... but almost all chicks agree that size DOES matter. I'm running 1/2" ID hose...
![]() ![]() ![]() Seriously, unless you're using a copper res, the size isn't going to affect temps materially. The more time the water rests in the res--less motion in the ocean-- the easier the system will be to bleed. A res with a wider diameter has more volume and has a larger surface area (air/water contact area), and will allow air bubbles to collect at the surface easier. Res layout is more important than size.

the water temps will rise and drop quicker with a smaller res, but max temp will be the same
