I've seen similar units used in the printing industry. They are hooked up with a fan and one of those generators to blow ionized air on the feeder of a machine, which redices paper sticking together by dissipating static electricity.
I'm not sure what it would do to clean air, but this kind of solution would be interesting to experiment with. The main thing it would do is fill your case with ionized air, which might remove dust already IN the case by allowing it to unstick from everything, assuming your airflow was great enough to carry it away then. Possibly great for power supplies.

Want some premium snake oil? I have loads of it (drains oil pan of car) at premium prices! Must sell today! It cures what ails you! It makes the willy wang and the missy warm! It will raise your dead grandmother from the grave! It will even organize your socks by color and remove dents from old Volvos!
All these benefits can be yours for the low introductory price of $179.95! The sad reality is that my snake oil will probably do more for your system than that thing can. Sorry, but that "product" is a crock of sh!t.

I am not sure about what it does for air "cleaning" per se, but there are devices out there that ionize air (basically makes it electrically conductive, therefore dissipating static electricity) and look like that. Anyone ever heard of an ionizer cleaning air?

They don't work as advertised. What they do is attract dust somewhat, and only powerful ones can do that. Installing one of those in your PC would be a BAD thing, and would probably interfere with your components.

Deionisers remove the dust and scent particles from air, removing the staic lets them drop from the air, stops them floating. So they DO clean air, does'nt do much for your carpet though
![]() PS, they look quite good (if they work) my house job only has two 'pins' on it and is crap. The one we had before kicked ass though (and was small), you could smell the air like a storm was brewing. Good idea to have one in the room your rigs in, would stop dust ingesting into the PC PSU but putting a good deioniser in your PC would be pointless IMO, I doubt it'd 'de~static' the entire PC & PSU  ...
