If I increase tubing ID...should I also chance WB?

Okay, so I have come to the sad realization that my Innovatek kit is not as flawless as it was cracked up to be. You guys have kindly pointed out to me that my 1/4" tubing is way too small, possibly causing my pump to work too hard and vibrate.

I have no problem with going to 1/2" tubing, but does that also mean I need to change waterblocks? Wat size channel should those be?

If a smaller channel in the WB increase flows speed through the block, but also increases resistance and backpressure, it makes me wonder what is the right balance is.

For 1/2" tubing, is the MAZE3 a better choice than the Innovacool ?

Some day I hope to help out here with ANSWERS instead of just questions.....feel so nooby....

the vibrating of your pump is solved by glueing shaft to impeller, as gmat pointed me out. i did it, and it works. problem 1 solved.

i've looked into innovatek alot, they don't sell larger fittings. maybe u can find larger fittings in a hardware store that screw/fit on your innovateks. there is alot of talk between 3/8 and 1/2 tubing. i would like to c some hard proof that one is better than the other. if u can get all fittings 1/2 then your off, but if one component is smaller, the weakest link in the chain, so to speak. if u bought innovatek, then maybe you're from germany. well look into the site of www.aqua-computer.de , very professional site. u gotta love em cuplex wb's , and that airplex rad looks extremely nifty for a nifty price.
concerning rads, goto local autoparts store, they have catalogues with 100's of rads + dimensions. i wouldn't know of a better place to search the perfectly dimensioned rad for your situation/case. i bought mine over there and it cost 35€.

i now have 2 radiators in serie, one maze2 with 3/8 tubing. one eheim 1048. i got temps under load never over 40°C with 120mm's running at lowest speed (inaudible). very happy, it wasn't exactly a cheap setup, but if u start to buy em black ice rads, then its getting expensive...

about the innovatek being souped up by alot of review sites... what to say, i thk danger den and others don't spam em review sites enough with free samples to get good ratings from them. i am eagerly waiting for the procoolstaff to get at it again. this is the only site where i ever saw a comparison of different radiators. now do that review again with the newest offerings in WB's and radiators. and then u will have something worthfull as guidance.

Okay thx glamour and gmat. Off to glue that sucker. But now you have put another idea in my head. I have both a Maxxxpert 120 and a BIX....and here you are with the brilliant idea to use two rads.

Now...the Maxxxpert has 10mm (3/8") fittings, the BIX has 1/2" fittings. Plus I think the BIX has probably a more significant pressure drop. So..can I put these suckers in serial? And if so, would 3/8" ID tubing do the trick? (i think I could get that on the BIX)

since eheim 1048 is 1/2, u can go from eheim to bix and use 1/2 there. from the bix u can start using the 3/8 for going to wb and from second rad back to pump. anyway, since i glued the eheim, it has no trouble doing 2 rads. try not to use too many 90° fittings. my temps have improved with +/- 6°C. so u need to know that temperature decrease is worth the trouble for you. if u can, u really need to go for those cuplex wb's. they have removable plexi tops with an o ring seal. u can easily clean em if they get clogged up. i consider that a big advantage against dd maze3 (don't think they have removable tops).

glamour... I am actually located in the US, so the cuplex blocks would get a little expensive...they sure look great tough!

I am first going to try my Innovatek blocks with just the BIX and 1/2 ID tubing and fittings. After that, I amy decide to add another rad.
