Im looking for some where that would sell clear pipe. Not neccessarily pvc, just something i can put end caps on and use as a rad. Would my local hardware store or home depot sell it or would i have to get it online? Ive seen www.usplastics.com but $5.00 per foot looks a little to expensive to me. Any help is appreciated.

Some of the bigger Ace Hardware stores have some clear pipe. The stuff I've seen didn't have a very large diameter (maybe 2" dia. at most) but it was only like $8 for a few feet..

Try Tygon (tm) from DDen, or any hardware store for vinyl tubing.

I already have some tygon. What i want is rigid pipe thats clear. Ive seen people use it to make air traps and resivours from, i just cant find their posts with their pics. Im planning to make an airtrap/res from it and mount it in my case.

It's not that bad for a 4in diameter piece: http://www.ridoutplastics.com/40to60tube.html

Actually, they seel it by 6 foot length, which is cut in 2 for shipping purposes.
Maybe some of us should get together on this. The price is right. We just need the caps. I'd be willing to buy a 1 foot section. Do we have 5 other takers? |

Sorry, I'm out because I'm happy with the 2in clear PVC I bought off someone on Ars.
I just finished tapping another 1 ft section for a different project. I'll be sure to post the results when I finish. |

I didn't see any tubing larger than 1"OD on the tapplastics site. I would think 1" is much to small.
Bigben2k: Are you talking about buying from tapplastics or ridout? Regardless, I'll be buying a 6ft length of 5" or 6"OD acrylic tubing from ridout Wednesday, and may be selling my excess on the forums. Last edited by koslov; 07-22-2002 at 06:06 PM. |

Check here: http://www.tapplastics.com/plastics/...cleartube.html They have clear tubing up to 6" OD, under the 1/8" wall. I'm looking for 2"ID, but I'm still considering a square desing (so I'm out!) |

I second the "McMaster Carr" recommendation. These guys have darn near all the tubing, fittings, rigid pipe, etc., that you could ever want. Here's a direct link to their thermoplastics section. Select the material of choice and form and you're good to go. In stuff of any decent diameter, they sell in one foot increments.

The price for a 6' length of pipe from tapplastics is only $20. Sheesh, you would spend that on a custom made res from anyone else. 6' gives you quite a bit of screw up room.

I see all the tubing, but where are the fittings? I dont think you can use PVC fittings with acrylic tubing. Also, whats the diffrence between extruded acrylic tubing and cast acrylic tubing, is one better than the other?
BigBen - id be happy to get in on a group order since i only want about a foot. |

So far the cheapest ive found clear pvc is at www.usplastic.com, where it is $5.02 per foot for 2" pipe, but they will only sell 10 ft sections which is 9ft too long for me. Im dropping the idea of using acrylic pipe because of its incompatibility with PVC fittings, and its price.
and so the search for the cheapest clear tubing continues......... |
