Little Giant Model 35-OM

I just won this pump on e-bay for $20US. It looks like it may be perfect for a 3/8" system (the size of the barbs on the intake and discharge) since it is a direct drive impellor pump designed for high backpressure. It's H-Q info is:

170 GPH @ 10'
140 GPH @ 30'
110 GPH @ 50'
Shutoff @ 81'

It is originally designed to be used in a pressure washer, but I think it can be adapted nicely to watercooling, and it would virtually guarantee greater than 2 gpm through your system, regardless of fittings used. I'll let you know how it is when I get it and have a chance to test it.

Sounds like fun. Pump it through 1/2" tubing for some faster than hell water action in your block. Let us know what happens with it.

Yeah, I hope so too, but for $20US it's not much of a loss if its not. One good thing about it is that it is a lot smaller than my 3-MD-SC, and has a weaker motor, which is what makes most of the noise on my current pump (the motor is air cooled).

If it's out of a pressure washer, it'll be noisy...

Thanks Sanjuro... it's not exactly a Killer Frog, but until I find something better

I was thinking it may be useful to use in a bong setup; it has enough pressure for quite a lift, and enough tubing to keep the setp away from the computer.

Well, I've had the pump for about a week now. It's very tiny, and has quite a bit of power for its size. Obviously the flow is a lot less than my 3-MD-SC, but it is still quite substantial. The most impressive thing about it is the pressure it produces though...

Unfortunately, while it runs rather cool, it is a noisy little sucker. It almost sounds like a hair drier, and while I love its characteristics, I hate the noise. Luckily enough I have a home for it... it's going to take over siphon duty in my step-dad's home brewery, moving homemade beer and wine from one jug to another.

I think that it would take an engineer to drink beer at 2 gallons per minute... takes special training and all.
