hehehe NOTEPAD.... forgot about that one, not to mention excel...
this sample of deskpro is nag where/expire-ware too, so I'm running it from a small little partition that I have to restore it's os every 30 days, to keep the thing working... but ya, I'm not even in possession of a mill yet, so no way I'm spending 1000's+ on software...... yet anyway.... oh by the way, any of you guys know where I can get a nice cross slide milling table, preferably with a flat table and some T-slots in it...(not the vise built in) and measuring on the X and Y . What i'm thinking of, is to convert the cross-slide into CNC, and fit it onto the drill-press, my design method, do not require any lateral movement while cutting, just extreme presision, and repeatability.... something like ![]()

I couldn't find a cross slide, but I did find a good one with T-slots http://www.sears.com/sr/product/summ...ession.new=Yes This is the one I'm thinking of getting.

aaaaa awesome.... even better than what I was looking for.. and at Sears..... which was my other big problem... availability.
now I only need to overclock my drill-press a bit, I think 5" to the viticle shaft lenth should just about be enough for that baby...maybe add some wall thickness to it as well... thanks for that link ![]()

I'm using only two, Acad 2000 and Pro Engineer 2001,with this two I can draw pretty much everything, I know them very well, so I'm sticking with them, when it comes to jumping on other programs I'm the most conservative person on the world

What about the good old pencil sketch and a scanner
![]() Seriously though I have ACAD 2000 and it is very time consuming to learn from scratch. |

Why, yes of course I scetch almost all of my Ideas on paper first, but I realy love drawing (mainly car designs- if someone wanna see some of them I can make few scans), and I spend a lot of time in college and university with technical drawing, so that's why I always start classic

by the way I have a stepper motor here, got it brand spanking new at a electronix store far away....
![]() it has 6 wires coming out, which makes it a uni-polar motor, I think. Has 200steps/revolution (1.8ยบ/step) and is rated at 6v dc. I have no idea what it's hold torque is, though I have to say, if I put 5v on it, there is no way i'm twisting that shaft... not with bare hands anyway.... do you think it be a good idea to go pick up a couple of them more, they are only $25.00 CDN where I get them....
