Yah this was anncounced a while back. I think it's a scaled down version of XP with a bunch of special features to make it more home theaterish. It is probably some kind of "digital hub" thng

Ill be surprised if this catches on, can you imagine watching a movie and windows crashes while your watching it, ill stick to my dvd player for that stuff. If I want to listen to my mp3s all I do is hook a cable from my audio out on my sound card to my receiver. Sounds like another microsoft scam poised to take over the world, or at least our tvs.

Have you seen any MS product, in the past few years, really take off?

![]() I watch most of my movies on my computer...but I get BSODs because my CD-RW drive is dying on me and has a hard time reading CDs. But WMP does crash...its nice when certain codecs don't agree with the operating system.

Basically... the "NEW" thing for digital home theater components is to eliminate all, or as much of the buttons on the remotes and the devices themselves.
Microsoft isn't the first to think of this, as Mitsubishi already has this out now, in limited functionality. This is just the next phase for home theater, is to eliminate the buttons and do everything with a jog stick, enter, back, and menu button. (think like the multi function buttons of a cell phone).
