Default Reversible Pumps?

I have a friend that requires a pump that is reversible (able to pull and pump not at the same time but maybe in an interval or timer). I do not know of any of these type of pumps but i am assuming their are some out their with some purpose.

Mag drives are usually not reversible (at least in a controlled way). Obviously this isn't a computer question.

Depending on the volume/flow rate required, you can look into peristaltic pumps (low) or piston type pumps (high). There are many, many types of pumps that will do this.
