Default Which 120mm panaflo on dtek core?

Hi all,

I'm going to start getting my main water-cooling parts in summer but would like to know which fan i should get for the dtek heatercore. It will be push/pull config (core sandwiched w/ 2 fans and shrouds). I can't use a rheto (sp) bus since my case is only a mid tower and all 5.25" bays are used (mobile rack, dvd-rw, dvd-rom, digidoc5).

I was wondering which Panaflo (or other) would be best to cool a 1700b+@2.3GHz and GF4 Ti4200 128MB* at the lowest dba. Most of the posts say that the L1A are dead quiet but i'm not sure if that'll be enough cfm to cool both components. I am thinking of 7v'ing a M1A or H1A. Another fan I am thinking about getting is an Aluminum 32dba @ 84CFM

*probably add geforce block after i'm used to watercooling in general

that dBa vs CFM seems suspicious to me: near Panaflo L1A noise with near Panaflo H1A airflow? If trusted big name fan mfgrs can't do that, then the likelihood of some small mfgr who is catering to the case mod crowd pulling it off seems slim.

I haven't been very satisfied with my M1As. Too loud.

Enermax makes a bus that fits the 3.5 drive bay. I would really recommend using a bus as fans seem to get louder the longer you have them. At least for me it seems as though the quieter my case gets the lower my tollerance gets.

L1A is what I have and is very silent, pulls air pretty good.
Can feel air being pulled in front of Rad.
Keeps my system as cool as its gonna get, and only need one fan pulling w/ shroud.

So you have it setup like this:

<----fan--shroud--rad-case| outside

arrow = direction fan is blowing air.

what are your ambient / system idle/load temps? over here, it's already starting to get summer temps (~88-90F in my room). are you using the dtek custom's heatercore?

yeap thats what i have.

of course your temps will now depend on how well you mount your waterblock and what type of waterblock you use.

I have WhiteWater block and my load temps are 98 or 100(maybe 102 at most, thats with 3dmark) degree Farn. Room temp is 80 - 83 degree. My idle temp is 95-96F.

My Normal load is UT2003 for 2 hours.

i plan on getting a dtek heatercore, WW (when dtek sells it), 1/2" tubing.

did you mean "yes" to both questions (fan setup and dtek heatercore)?

One reason I can think of that these fans could be lower noise is that the much stiffer aluminum frame would not transmit vibrational noise nearly so much as a plastic frame would.

Would be one good plus for these fans. The suggested idea of them acting as heat sinks is BS, but this would be a nice plus.

Get a thicker Panaflo (38mm) because they push a bit harder then the 25mm ones.
