Default Need help!!....Epox 8RDA+

I simply can not believe this....

Today I decided to shut my machine down for a few minutes to reorganize my PCI card for better air flow to my RAID adapter. THATs when I noticed it! Three of my main capacitors are LEAKING!!!!!!!!!

Good news: At least that would explain some of the strange problems I have been having recently.

Bad news: I have to unsolder those capacitors and replace them with newer ones before the board goes completely dead.

Here is what I need: For some one that has the EP-8RDA+ board and has easy access to it, I need to know the ratings of the (4) capacitors that are between the voltage regulators and the interface ports on the side of the MB. These capacitors are on the LEFT side of the voltage regulators, the furthest row from where the CPU socket is.

I cant get a good look in there and I would have to tear out the whole MB and case in order to get a good look. Since the system is still functioning (using it right now) I want to avoid tearing it down until after I have the right capacitors to do the repairs.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

Brad is correct. Return it. You don't want to screw with those things if you don't have to.

The only thing that would be a problem is if you did some obvious hardware mods ... so did you?

Hardware mods?

Ummmmmmmmmmm............yea!

Unless Epox doesnt mind having a Blorb on the NB, a resistor jumping the Vdd up to 1.82V, and heatsinks bonded to the voltage regulators and the SB.

honestly, this is no sweat for me. I have already repaired 2 MB with this exact same problem and they work fine. All i need are the specs for the capacitors so I can go out and order some replacements.

Thanks for the suggestions though. If I didnt have all those mods in place, I would have RMAed the board....(but I really like this board!) Not to mention, I can use this opportunity to not only increase my experience with soldering but also replace the caps with higher rated ones thus probably INCREASING the stability of the board even further....

Speaking of which...... who here has a degree in EE? I could use some help with figuring out what options I have to use better caps.

Groth or Since87 can probably help you out there.

Can find them in this thread: http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/sho...&threadid=7124
