Default Maze or Spiral waterblock?

I suppose Joe's roundup will answer this question (providing they're both in it), but I've been waiting forever and I have an Athlon XP waiting to be cooled. Actually, on an aside, my thermosistor is reporting the same idle temperatures as my overclocked 800 to 933 @ 1.92V (currently 1.53GHz Athlon XP @ 1.80V).

Anyway, on an incredibly off chance, has anyone used both and determined a difference in performance?

For reference,

Maze is at Dangerden

Spiral is at DTek Customs

Although... I guess you'd already know that if you had used them both. Whatever. :P

Dunno... would be interesting. The spiral is designed to reduce flow resistance by not having any sharp turns, but then again, it is CONSTANTLY making a gradual turn. So it would be interesting to see. Bottom line is that I haven't trusted any sort of non-metal capping my waterblocks for a long time so I sure as hell ain't buyin' it.

edit: happy now mike?

Everyone has been saying that the Spiral has low restriction and is good for high-flowing setups. What exactly would people characterize as "high flowing?" I mean... let's say in terms of an Eheim 1250 & a heatercore, is that high flow?

And 1/2 inch all around, but yes those would be about the lowest restriction parts you can get.

No... the maker has said that and it does perform well so that is just kinda what people are saying now, but there have been no formal tests...

I have a spir@l and am very happy with it, the seal on the acrylic top is perfect and it looks incredible. I haven't used the maze, but there were some people who have used both and said that they were atleast on the same tier. The Spri@l was designed and is produced by Fixitt over in the [H]ard|ocp fourm, and that is where you will find the comparison tests if you search in the OC&C section.

The only down side is that there has been talk of some availability issues as of late with the D-tek distribution (I ordered mine from Fixitt directly before he went to D-tek)....Also the chanels in this block are BIG, they will flow tons of water. I have an ehime 1060, LiquidCool leviathan and 1/2" ID hose with bored out barbs throughout. I wish I had a flow meter, but I can say that when I had it running open loop (with the pump in a bucket and the exit hose from the block looping into the bucket) I had a hard time keeping the hose in the bucket because of the force of the water coming out of the hose.

It will post at 1725, that is where I want it to be stable....

yah that's cool. I have heard that they are nice. What i'm saying is that i've never seen any formal tests. I'd like to see Swiftech modded w/ 1/2" barbs vs. DD Maze2 vs. Dtek...

btw what temps are you getting with your leviathan? are you shouding or just direct mounting the fans?
