And if you want to dismount the sink form your CPU?
Guess you won't be upgrading your cooling to the Cascade you can now afford. And how do you get hold of the socket locking lever? Your bonded heat sink seems to be in the way. I think I much perfer the article this last week on carbon based TIM's that may be out before to long. And they should be a large improvment without the disadvantages. In fact in early testing it's shown to be better than solder. |

With the efficiency of the technique, you could actually make a smaller water block. Small enough that you could get to the ZIF lever.
True, if your CPU ever died, you'd be screwed...Or would you? You could just scrape off most of the cpu from the block, then you could Lap the block down a little bit to get it flat, and Voila, you have yourself your block back. I just thought that the article was very interesting. |

I want to know why burning at 1500C makes it a good idea to put on my CPU.

It only burns for a fraction of a second. Just long enough to melt the solder to the chip and block, then it cools as the heat transfers to the HSF.
It's still in testing. We'll see what kind of actual results they get from it... |
