situation is this.
we've got about 40ppl folding actively. this makes me feel quite ashamed. such active boards with good attitude; and only 40 folding??? look here for the grim truth: http://www.distributedfolding.org/te.../team1680.html it should be very doable to catch up with these nice folks... http://www.distributedfolding.org/te...s/team185.html ok; if you have the standard pc + network the software shouldn't give you any trouble. i play alot of games, benchmark with 3dmark, use sisoft to calculate mem bandwidth. i do all this with folding on. when doing such demanding the tasks, the folding client halts completely. the scores are exactly the same with or without client. so one really has no excuse not folding (except if u r already folding for another team). http://www.distributedfolding.org/Download.html for highest performance, and least blablabla take the text client. e.g. for the windowsies ftp://ftp.mshri.on.ca/pub/distribfol...rent-win9x.zip i would like very much to have alot of pride folding for a strong procooling team. right now we look like amateurs.

I used to have leet power going, but as resources are rolled into production my leet power is turning rather [H]ard ( another word for not leet)

Well they are averaging 3,250,000 more a day. It looks like alot but it isn't, not with DF. I can put out around 600,000 a day just with my 3 computers and they are by no means "fast".
My XP1700+@1807 can put out about 275,000 a day on this slower new gene. My XP1600+@1600 puts out about 225,000 a day. My Other XP1600+@1600 puts out about 200,000 a day. So all we you need is about 10 XP's running 2gig to start catching up to [H]. Shouldn't be a problem ah? My comps are tied up with a SETI gauntlet right now or I would jump in. Might anyway after this weekend. |

i started going from 100k to 1000k after invading all the pc's at work. at a limit now. more than 1 mil i can't do.
so indeed, they are not too far ahead. +/- 10 - 20 more folders should get us quite competitive. thx jaydee now where's all the rest of those pro/guru's

Any tips on loading & setting it up you'd care to give to a guy who still has a good deal to learn about puters?
note: my luck with software sux. But I'm willing to give it a try. edit: I'll tell you up front my system isn't real fast. XP1600 stock with 256mhz ram & 20 gig hard drive. And yes it was a cheap build. ![]() |

k, gonna make some sort of guide, because i have forgot all the details.
edit: btw, i don't care if we got only p 0.5's @ 3MHz joining, that way we show we got a community to go for it. so a 1600+ is way better than i was expecting. lets show we can increase active folders from 40 to 80. nomatter what speedgrade pc.

I just beefed up my production a week ago when I added my new p4 2.0@3ghz, it produces a healthy amount of structures a day.

The name you enter in the Organization field there doesn't matter. For instance, Bignuts has Backroom Cabana Boys as his Organization.
What you need to do is, after filling that form out and getting your e-mail with your user handle, you need to click on the "High-Flyers" button at the top of the page. Login there with your handle and the password you chose, and you will be taken to your personal stats page. At the top of the personal stats page is your profile. Here you can change your username and Organization, and most importantly, select ProCooling from the "Current Team" drop-down list". Then click the "save changes" button. If you don't do this, your work will not count towards the ProCooling team. Simply entering ProCooling as your Organization will not do the trick. |

So how long should it take a 2.26G P4 to generate and upload a structure?
I believe I got my machine at work setup right. (No error reports that I saw.) Not sure if there will be problems getting through the proxy server though. I set it up text version in quiet mode, so there's nothing to tell me anything's happening, except my CPU usage is at 100%. |

Heh you convinced me. I was going to hold off till next week when I get the rest of my xp2400 system in. But I'll go ahead and donate the spare cpu cycles from my speed demon(celeon 366@450) into the fray till I get my next computer put together.
