I just got Tom Leufken's watercooling kit and set it up. My temps are about the same as they were using my old vantec hsf at like 35-40 celcius thouh. The water temperature seems pretty low to the touch and the radiator is also pretty cool. I'm thinking the problem is the wimpy waterblock that came with the kit, would upgrading to something from danger den or swiftech lower temps considerably? I believe this block is aluminum and just single pass.

lol it's not about the idle temp. see understress ur hsf temp jumps because the air isnt dense enough to take away all the heat, while water is much more dense therefore it can keep getting much more heat under extreme stress and still keep things close to the temp ur getting now.
for example i'm running my fans at 4.5volts so they are VERY quite, and im still stable with p3 800@960 + watercooling vid card. my temps are usually 6-8 cels over ambient. i have antifreeze, water wetter, dye, and distilled water in there. but seriously as long as you can overclock higher and stay stable temps don't really matter, its the fact that under extreme stress water will keep ur temps still low. btw with alpha pep66 and globalwin 38cfm i had my idle temp barely 2 cels over ambient, but i still couldnt stay at 960 stable, with watercooling i could go to 1032 and stay way stable (just need to pump voltage for fans higher, but i want em very quite so i stay at 960). Yeah dude, I heard that water system you got sucks. I believe it is single pass, take it apart and find out :-P. Yeah DangerDen kicks ass, I would get a copper block from them if I were you. Futhermore, if you got an Athlon you can get their new block that uses the four bolt holes on the side of your socket. Ever think about getting a peltier? That will lower you temps ;-)

I have heard both good and bad about the leufkens kits, but if it is aluminum, that is not very good, because the intel and AMD cores are so small. They need a metal that can spread the heat across the surface of the block better... copper. The best route would be to grab an OCWC or Dangerden block, but if you want a small temp drop, you can add a thin copper cold plate between the CPU and the block.

Once again, bad info...It's a 5 pass block, runs less than two degrees warmer than the Maze 2 and was determined 'most likely to NOT leak' at the tweaktown waterblock roundup. We also use copper. As for 'heard' it sucks...Thats just plain stupid...Is there a moderator here???

Its good to see manufacturers talking about their products on the boards. Gives a certain balance and helps to improve their products!
Word of warning though. I don't know the exact details behind it but the Overclockers Australia forums have been taken down because of legal action. Check out the explanation on http://www.overclockers.com.au/cgi-b...?action=intro. If you click through to the homepage there are other updates in the news. Upshot is, its because of members bagging the crap out of a manufacturer/product such that the manufacturer has taken action. They may or may not have reason to do so, but the fact is they have done it and the forums have been taken down as a result. Bloody good forums too! Such as shame. Cheers Memphis

Is that what happened over there? Somebody said so-and-so's product sucks so they are now getting sued? Thats ignorant...
And also not busting on your stuff, but how is it a 5 pass? From what I can see in the pics, they only seem to have to channels(small pics though) I'm really not messing with you I'm just curious if I am missing something... |
