And here i am again...
Does winxp pro have an builted-in telnet server? if so, how do i run it? And does it have a ftp server builted in? Right now i use serv-u, nice, but since i have a floating ip adress, each time i disconnect i have to go to my basement to check the new ip... wich reminds me: My server shares internet with all other computers. Trow them, how can i check my server's ip that he is connected to the internet (not the NIC one) ? |

I don't know too much about the built in XP server crap but I do know how its enabled. Go to control panels and then add remove programs then windows components then add Internet Information Services that should get you started at least on what windows has to offer. I do know that there is a FTP server, I dont know about telnet or SSH.
a good way to solve your dynamic IP issue. Go towww.staticcling.org and download one of the windows clients and sign up for their service. What it does is you give them an arbitrary name like fungus, then when you you connect to your servers you connect to fungus.staticcling.org. The client automatically and quickly sends your IP addr to their server. Their server has a table with your sub domain and current IP address then DNS servers resolve to their IP address there server resolves it to your current IP addr so there is no waiting for a DNS to propagate ![]()
