Default Problems with Sony MVC-CD300

Not sure if anyone here has used one. We've got one at work and I haven't had issues with it in ages. The previous owner left the company and I rebuilt his box.

Now the camera won't play nice. I can't get the USB connection to do its thing on the ADD HARDWARE WIZARD. Its looking for an *.inf which those lovely Sony guys didn't seem to include on the CD.

Infact, the CD install _seems_ to have some serious issues. It installs registry keys that don't point to the files it installs.

I'm doing this all in a Win2K Sp4 environment. Any idea?

Check Sony's website. They should have the driver there. If that doesn't work, you may be screwed.

Isn't there a way to remove the memory on that and read it externally like on a flash reader or something? Most sony products allow that.

Nope, they don't have it. I've got the CD and I did manage to find some drivers hidden on their ftp site but its still bust.

The -CD series cameras have a little "halfsize" cd-r/rw diskdrive. I could burn the CD in the camera. using the standard interface (its supposed to be readable on a directCD compatible PC w/ a cd-rw drive) hasn't had good results to date. I don't really want to burn the -rw disk (its a last resort.)

I'm not trying to sound like an ass here, but you may want to try googling and/or posting to any forums for sony camera users you can find. Alternately, contact their tech support to see if they have old drivers around.

hehehe

actually, I've done all that. Their tech support guys use an autoreply email that is nex to useless. Most dig. camera sites have little info on this problem. However, I did find someone else in the same boat.

This is one of my "last resort" posts. =) I figured this might be a good place to find some obscure knowledge hidden in a pelt or something
