Im checking if its possible to get system temp info via wap or gprs. It could be a freeware or buyware program, or a plugin to mbm where you can check your system temps and maybe shut down the PC?
Have been googling all day and have not found anything yet. |

You can do that with certain linux apps. Dunno about windows. GKrellm2 is the program.

heh, if you're worried about that, here's what you need to set up.
build a website that essentially monitors your pc stats. to make things easier, you could make it WAP compliant (that way it could be retrieved from both WAP and regular http). then, rig something up that sends an SMS to your phone if the system is outside of acceptable operational parameters. nice thing about this setup, you wouldn't really have to freakishly check all your system's health statii all the time, you'd be notified if something failed. IMHO, that's a much better solution. in fact, screw the web page. just give me an alert, and a way to reply to automate shutdown ![]() dunno if it exists, but if there's a will, there is undoubtedly a way. i know with sprint pcs, you can have basically email that goes to your phone. it's not currently giving me instant notification if i have a new regular mail tho. i'm going to talk to sprint next time i go in there see if there's a way to do that.

Might be of some help :
Check Elektor release from May 2002 (approx , i'm not sure about the releases in other countries). It has an article about remote control using SMS. It has several digital input and outputs , and a pc link. It also responds to commands sent via SMS and change output states, and bypasses the pc. It also relays data through SMS. http://www.palmtec.de/PalmTec/Aktuel...h-sms-exbo.htm http://www.elektroniknet.de/topics/k...kel/02014b.htm (all in german)
