I have five computers running the scrensaver (all winxp).
Lately I've encountered the following: 1. Had to reconfigure all of my firewalls because they wouldn't let anything in or out(folding related). 2. Screen saver running (text at bottom) but no proteins working. 3. Inability to end screen saver by any other method than alt+ctrl+del. 4. Screen saver stuck on one protein, never moving on to the next, calculating energy, etc... 5. Screen saver doing the same iteration over and over. I have reconfigured all firewall to give foldtraj full access. Restarted computers at client prompting. Beyond that, I really don't know what to do. Any help appreciated. I hate being down, not helping anyone that way. --mik |

4: The protein is not supposed to change. It will use the same protein untill we all completed enough work on that protein to warrant a new one. Maybe you mean structure? It goes through 250 structures on the protein. Once 250 is done it starts over. 5: Have no idea. Run the text client and DFGUI instead maybe. Also check the error log if there is one on the screensaver. |

re: #4 Yeah, that's what I mean....I think. [edit] stuck on one rendered structure [/edit] Sometimes it does a lot more than 250 though. The other day it was doing like 5,000 that went real fast between each "structure" i.e. the things it renders with the saver. heh, sry I'm so technically inept at this but I just don't have much time to study and/or fiddle with it. I am sure it shouldn't render one thing and then just sit there for hours doing nothing else, in any case. I could go back to the text version, it is just that this one is easier for me to manage with the people in my office. I can't trust them to keep the window minimized without closing it. I had to teach most of them how to turn their machines on (literally). I just don't want to be bothered to check on them all the time. If I could get it to minimize to the tray, that might help. Know how to do that? thx again |

Just in case anyone was interested or knows someone who is having problems.
This from Elena Garderman Lead Software Developer, Distributed Folding Project : Yes, we indeed had a bug in this release of the screensaver. We will be re-releasing a fixed version today, for more information see http://www.distributedfolding.org/news.html I recieved this email about five minutes ago. |
