I have here a WhiteWater set-up that seems to be not performing well.. I really don't know what's behind this high temps. I hope you guys can help me with this
Barton 2800+ @ (220 X 11) 2420 MHz Vcore : 1.9v (bios) 1.82v (Abit EQ monitor/MBM 5) CPU block: Dtek WhiteWater Rad: Small arse rad (6 in X 6 in X 1.25 in) w/ 2 Delta 86CFM fans in push/pull with shroud Pump: Eheim 1048 Tubing: 1/2 ID Ambient temp: 28 C Abit EQ monitor/MBM 5 temp: Idle : System: 30 C CPU : 44 C Load: System: 32 CPU : 50 C These temperature are almost identical when I'm still using the Epox 8rda+ mobo.. I have already remounted the block several times in fact I have already consumed 1 (2.7 gram) tube of Artic Silver Ceramique paste.. I believe I have applied the CPU with the correct amount of paste (thin layer) and the block screws are tighted evenly with enough pressure... :shrug: Any inputs will be greatly appreciated... well the whitewater needs flow thru it, and that pump sounds a bit meagre, its the 158gph version isn't it. Sounds like you got enough air moment on the radiator. But make sure the core isn't to restrictive and that the air is actually going thruthe core and not leaking out the shroud someplace. not hard to check just put a tissue near the parts where you think it might be leaking air.
Though think of the restrictiveness of a whitewater. and that radiator. a 158gph pump would be in my opinion the BARE MINIMUM. and even then shouldn't reveal good performance, i'd assuume that heatercore your using to be to restrictive. take the return tube, out of the resevoir, and take a look at the flow coming out of the loop. if its not every strong at all. or even worse just a trickle. then you know its the pump. That would be my call Any any loop i run, 300gph is my minimum call for pumps the hydor l30 would do you good. or even an mcp6000 you want something with good head presure when pushen thru very restrictive radiators and things of the sort. sorry about writing you a book.

I have already tried MCP300 which I think is stronger than the Eheim 1048 if I'm not mistaken but I only got 0.5 C difference.. I'm sure there are no leakage in my shroud since I put some silicon sealant on the joints to prevent air leakages.. I have already ordered a Dtek pro heatercore.. Will this pro core improve my WC performance, what do you think?

An MCP300 isn't much better for flow rate. still could be a pump problem.
also, sounds like the rad you are usuing is killing the flow have you checked with the pump and the rad alone to see how bad? sounds like the Dtek core will help alot. BUT you will want a 300gph or better pump soon.

Mags have minor leaks that are also known to be easily fixable... What is your radiator air temperature? If the air going into the radiator is 30C, 44C isn't all that bad.

An Eheim 1048 is plenty of pump for your setup. The stronger pumps that people are recommending will do very little to lower your temperatures by much at all. I designed the WW with the 1048 in mind (I owned one). They are a very good match in a single block system (i.e. Eheim 1048 + WW + radiator).
Given your CPU and its heat load (speed/voltage) and pump I would anticipate full-load CPU temperatures of around 13-17C above the water temperature (depending upon the actual programs being run). Your radiator is relatively small, and you'll probably be getting around 5-6C water temperatures above ambient. All up, I would expect around 18-23C CPU temperatures above ambient room temperature under load (again - depending on what you're doing). Of course, the issue you're probably really running into is believing other people when they report CPU temperatures of, say, 5C above ambient, or some other crap like that. Fact is many motherboards report temperatures very erroneously, and even motherboards of the exact same type/make/model can vary quite widely. You can really only make comparisons with stuff that is applied to your own personal system, and attempting to use other's results will only cause frustration and confusion, because others simply cannot be trusted, not because they are dishonest, but because their motherboards cannot be trusted. |
