hell if I know, I just went to someother forums to investigate the increase in folding speed by some people, and saw that this was the secret.

This isn't something the main DF site has put out is it? If not why didn't they put it out as a update for all?

Possible cheat?

It is probably the new official BETA client available on the D.F site put out to be tested. I was unaware that the points actually counted though... I PM'ed Howard and awaiting his reply. If this is legit I am switching tonight!

I've just finished reading two threads at the DF forums regarding this Beta.

It scores about 50% more from what a couple guys posted. Only saw a few with problems, almost all of who were making use of a version of Linux, not windows as OS.

I'm going to switch and see what happens.

I just tried the Linux beta - it dislikes one of the libraries on my Debian boxes.

I wondered how long it would take Joe to catch on

Howard asked people to test the new exe's.
Those that did noticed a good increase in production.
It certainly is not a "cheat"
{Maybe you folks should read the Official Forum more often}

The beta-algorithm is available only in Linux and Windows text client versions (links in the 'news' section of the distributed folding site). In general, the text clients will fold faster than the screen saver.

BTW can you run it more than one time on a system, can you like have 3 instances of it on one computer?? cuse I got a nice server thats only at about 2% cpu useage .

1 client per CPU is the best way to go. It will use 100% of the CPU by itself. if it is a dual CPU system then setup one client per CPU.

I think so - the .exe file you replace the main one with is the same size after you update.

This an old thead - the client beta in question became the official version during the update in mid-December.

Since then, we've had another update and a protein change. Don't use this beta client anymore!
