Default NorthBridge Waterblock

I am in prosess of making a new watercooling system from scratch. The point of this system is not only to be efficient but also looking great.

here are a few teaser pictures of what it will look like first one is 3D model from solidwork, and the other is what it looked in the tool path generating programm i use the comparrison chart is in milimeters to you can see the part if pretty friking close

BTW I made the part, just waiting for the fittings to get here, and take the picture of it too. @ work right now so dont have a digital camera.

BTW2 this is going on Abit NF7-S, thank you satanicoo.

Nice! Looks like your gonna use the push fit cartrages

The radius on the stepped hole isnt needed, itll probably speed up the process a little bit.
I too am designing some with those cartrages, I dont really like how thick the top needs to be, but It can be worth it

Cant see from here, but did you mill the mounting slots before milling around the peice? I would suggest that because youll have a heck of a time trying to mount that thing back in a vice or whatever.

Ya also want to make sure you dont chop into the vice

-edit- what kind of machine are you making it on and out of what material?

actually i had to remound it anyways because of the screw holes on the bottom of the peice that bolt it together. So i just lasercut 2 sacrificial pieces out of acrylic to hold it in the wise.

The machine is quite rare, its called Benchman XT and it has a 20 tool ATC carousel which is quite convinient. But it has its own issues sometime. Though it is VERY precise in terms of repetability.

I am using acrylic for the top of the block, partly because this is the first peice i made so I am still practicing. Partly because it looks really well when you light it up. None of the local retailers had thick Polycarb so I just desided to go acrylic because I not doing anything Cathar like yet .

BTW yea cartridges are AWSOME! I am going 3/8th all around even though some people dont like the restricted flow as much, I dont mind it.
I buy my cartridges from RyanHerco they usually have JohnGuest stuff in stock most of the time.

Just got my 20 cartridges today at lunch, I litterally caught the UPS guy going up to my door. Inserted them and it feels Great, and looks awsome.

awesome man, I havent looked into bigger mills, but it sounds like a fun machine

Check mcmaster or usplastic.com for polycarbonate.

I run 3/8OD tube throughout my system with better results than 1/2" ID so don't worry about it

Does those fittings have threads? If they don't have any how'd ya fit them in, you put glue also?
That's nice

They are actually Cartridge fittings made by JohnGuest, I belive swiftech uses them as well. As you see in the pictures they have no threads they are pressed into the cavity and the o-rings seal up beween the hose and the block itself

Looks great man! I gotta get me some of those ordered

you notice the weird marks on the side of the peice, when you put a small end mill down that deep it tends to wobble a bit and make not so nice of a finish, if you plan on making more I would suggest using a larger end mill for that.

Darn it some one noticed. This was my first ever piece made on a CNC mill rather then a manual one, so i wasnt so worried about surface finish. I had to use endmills I had access to at the time. Next time around i will try to achive a better finish all around.

www.ryanherco.com part number 1203-155, search for it on thier site as www.johnguest.com only deals in VERY LARGE quantaties. BTW i wouldnt buy those unless you have a CNC mill, its a bitch to do the cavity for it by hand.
