how's the performance difference going from one rad to two..
i'm thinking of getting these hardcore radiator thingees from around here..they're like 8" x 8" x 4"! and running them in parallel, with one fan on each of them..what do yall think? any opinions would be appreciated ![]() Last edited by ablaze; 03-26-2002 at 02:06 PM. |

Unless you're running a 2x172W pelt setup or perhaps have dual processors, I wouldn't bother going to the trouble of adding a second rad.

I think I'll try a second heater core. It would reduce my air-flow requirements, and make my computer almost silent with the increased surface area of a second rad. Also, the parallel rad design should reduce the pressure drop.
I'll let you know what happens ![]() |

the main advantage I see is being able to run quieter fans. with dual 8" x 8" x 4" rads, you could run 4x 12dba pabst 80mm fans on each, and still have really good cooling. While with just one you will need to run more powerful and louder fans

If you can fit them then go with them. Only dissadvantage would be increased complexity. Advantages include potentially better performance, quieter opperation and better upgradability.
Also the lower presure drop can increase the lifespan of the pump. One thing you need to look out for though, if you are using dissimilar rads then you have make sure that flow is balanced optimally or at least equally. Edward Last edited by futRtrubL; 03-28-2002 at 09:35 AM. |

It has just happened - now I have two BI Extremes. So I am going to use them in parallel (maybe without fans at all).

Also, as far as dual radiators go, here...
http://www.procooling.com/articles/h...t_1-mods.shtml Chip messed it up for me badly in the end so I couldn't finish it on time, but as soon as I get back from college in the summer, I will finish it up. -Kevin

just get 120mm x 38mm panaflo's from caseetc. at 69cfm they are fairly quiet, and if you 7v'ed or 5v'ed them, you'd never hear them
