ACPI problems

My damn server has just broke down. Started it up and used it a little. Then I rebooted it and hell started......... The main thing is that after Windows 2000 has gone through the "black" loading and is going to the graph. loading it reboots itself. Then by some reason, once a blue screen apeard complaining my motherboard doesn't support ACPI and some shit about pressing F7 somewhere........... so please do help me, I'm starting to go really angry....

Now the computer started. Then after reboot it didn't start. I have tried to change the atx power supply since I know the other one is better.

Change any bios settings? Check the Bios & make sure the APCI settings didn't get changed somehow?

Only thing I can think of right now, other than a corruptred Win2k file or something.

Default bios

There aren't that much to change in the bios, since the motherboard is 2 or 3 years old. I have tried to change the bios back to it's original config. Though, that hasn't helped me. When I tried to reinstall Win2000, some shitty error about probs. reading a file from the cd-rom poped up on the screen.

Could be:

- Bad sectors, etc... on hard drive - I'd re-Fdisk & format if you don't have needed data, or can back it up by loading hard drive on another PC. Maybe a low level format with HD utility from HD manufacturer.
- dirty/scratched CD(for the cd problem) - clean/polish
- dirty CD-Rom drive(for the cd problem) - clean/test in another PC/replace
- loose/bad IDE cables - sometimes they loosen at the connector
- dirty motherboard - dust could be shorting something out or insulating a component so it heats up & doesn't function properly.
- bad mobo...
- Power supply could be on it's way out - this can cause so many random problems (looks like you swapped this already though)
- Virus

Personally, I'd strip it all down, clean everything, then install bare minimum - CPU/heatsink, RAM, Vid card, hard drive and CD-Rom drive. Boot from Windows CD(bootable 98 is the easiest), Fdisk hard drive, and try reinstalling Win2k. (can you fdisk from W2k disc? I never tried) If you still have problems after this, I'd consider it a hardware problem.

Can you boot into safe mode? Have you tried using the Win2K repair process?

Sounds like the situation when you convert from ACPI mode to Standard PC mode and your system didnt like you for doing it

Safe mode and last working profile doesn't help. But I have managed to fire up the setup from the win2000 cd, so now i'm going to backup a few things and reinstall windows 2000.
