You first have to create a sketch(curve, line etc.) and insert a plane normal to the curve(set origin on curve) and exit sketch.
then after drawing the profile on that plane, you have to pierce point it to the first created sketch by selecting the point on the profile that you want peirced and the sketch both...then select peirce point.... exit sketch.....then insert>cut>sweep and enter the properties for the cutsweep. Just use the help files.....easy as pie!
