Default Pump failing?!?!? MCP600

I was running Prime95 to test the stability of my new 2400+ Mobile. When I looked at MBM5 it showed my CPU temp at 59C!! One minute later, my computer shuts off (I have it set to shut off at 60C). This is at 1.45Volts!!!! Prime95 was running for about 10 to 15 minutes.

I thought maybe I didn't mount the waterblock correctly until I felt it. The waterblock was burning hot! With my 2400+(desktop) at 2.03V, the waterblock would feel a little warm.

Was my pump not (MCP600) not working? I couldn't tell if the pump was on or not because I can't hear the pump with my side panel closed. But when I felt the pump, it felt cold. It usually gets warm.

Anyway, when I turned my PC back on, everything seems fine. CPU tems is 36C Load.

What happened here? Did the pump not turn on? Why wouldn't it? Could it be my power supply? I hope it's the not the pump.

how is the power set up for the pump? its completly plausable that it didnt turn on if you have some relay setup, or maybe the power cable was loose if you have just separate cables? honestly Id watch it, if this happens again WHILE ITS DEFINITLY running, you better return that pump.

He has a Swiftech MCP-600 12vdc pump, So a 120vac relay would not be needed. I mean I've never heard of a 12v pump relay or even the need for one. But Yeah It could be going bad or The cable could be It, As 12v cables sometimes do go bad, Like an unseen break in the wires on one cable, Try another one first.

sorry I dont pay attention to 12v pumps. A cable sounds like it might be the problem, esp since it corrected itself after you took the case apart (knocked something in place?) happens to harddrives all the time

Try wiggling the wires around and see if the pump powers down…
I have had bad Molex connections in the past and that usually located the bad connection for me

Well then that shows what your problem is. Stop complaining in caps and buy a decent PSU or learn how to fit a cable correctly. If you're still having problems then secure it in with something!

Take it easy Meethoss...
shyet is just excited that he has a loose cable ... not a Pump failing problem...
and is expressing it in caps... you have never had a Molex connector not connect properly before?

shyet - to me your post looked like you were blaming these guys for telling you to wiggle the molex, as most people use caps for abusive purposes, and I was simply standing up for them. If you can't communicate in a proper manner then take your foul mouthed mind somewhere else.

I've never had a problem with a molex connector before, so sorry for posting.

Shows how difficult it is to interpret somethings on the internet. I took his comments as "Yeah, that is the problem, thanks for your help! " .

Anyway looks like the cause of the problem is found, now to fix the problem.

This thread has turned into a geek Rorschack test -- the easily offended, the defensive, the peacemakers, etc. And of course, the ironically detached psychoanalysts.
