Bad reservoir causing air bubbles? Any solutions?

Here are some pictures of the reservoir and the air bubble problem. The main issue is that there is no divider in the reservoir. So as the water is pushed into the reservoir from the top barb, it produces air bubbles. Without the divider, the lower barb (output to CPU block) sucks in a good deal of the air bubbles causing air to enter the flow.

Do any of you guys have any solutions to this problem. I thought about hacksawing the top off of the res and putting in a divider but this would require a lot of work and hassle. Keep in mind that the top of the res only has about a 3/4" hole.

fill it up?.....it can't produce bubbles if there's no air....

Simple, elegant, I like it!

Otherwise you can add a sponge type filter, similar to those used in aquarium filters, but with the above advise, you should be set.

I can only fill it up to near the opening of the res. Anyways the problem is that the water going into the res is producing so many bubbles. I tried to get rid of all of the bubbles in the system before starting but eventually I get back to the same point of a good amount of air in the system. I even tried covering the flow of water into the res with my finger for seconds at a time to try to build up pressure and push out some bubbles but that didn't work.

Thick scotch brite pad, or some of the aquarium filter material listed above.

The sponge suggestions are quite good for settling the surface of the water but the 3/4" hole he has to work with poses a problem for getting a tight fitting sponge inside. Could still work though, maybe squish it up in one direction and try and position it with some tweezers or needle nose pliers.
