First WC PC done!

First post here, but I joined a little while ago. It was here, amdmb.com and OC-Forums that I soaked up all the information I needed just by reading your posts. Every time I was about to post a question I found someone had not only already asked it, but had gotten an answer in one of these three forums!! Well tonight I'm going to those forums & showing off what I made with all your input!

Well Here she is!

And I wipped up a little site with more pics and info here.

Again thanks for all your posts, couldn't have done it without you!

Welcome all the same

Nice build! I'll also use 4 UV CCFLs, but I think I'm going to pass on the acrylic case

So what's the final word on your OC on that Asus board?

Thanks guys!

Well this is hardly my first time building a PC! This is my first attempt at a water-cooled PC! AND my first attempt at a "showcase" PC. I've never even had a PC with a window before, let alone 100% window! But I knew I just couldn't cover up all that beautiful water cooling stuff! I started out looking for cases with big windows, and went a little overboard...

This forum is a GREAT resourse for anyone interested in "taking the plunge" into water cooling. Reading your posts gave me the courage to try it myself. But I had to do something, I was getting great overclocks, but I couldn't hear myself think over the fans!

As for overclocking ASUS boards, I'm getting ~700MHz overclock with this 2100+, NO volt mods needed. I'll be putting a Barton in her over the next couple of weeks. I've been using ASUS boards for the last 5 or 6 PC's. I'm used to them, I know their quirks. I considered going with the ABit for this rig, but when the rev 2 A7N8X started getting such rave reviews I stuck with ASUS. Besides my rev 1.04 A7N8X is still running like a top!

I've always put the best parts I could afford in my rigs. With special empasyis on the memory & power supply. I was told by a wise system builder many years ago that there are two things that kill stability in home built PC's; "cheap RAM & weak power supplies". Heeding that sage advice I've had pretty good luck with most of the rigs I've built.

BTW, that 700MHz overclock is at 31C as we speak!

Again thanks for the kind words and your informative posts/articles,
--Pete

Very nice. I hope my first project yields results like that (parts arriving over the next week or so).

Looks good. But I hope that you aren't keeping the radiator shoved up against a wall like that all the time?

Looks nice, good job. What full tower acrylic case is that? Is it affordable? I am thinking of doing something like the bit-tech macro black project, with the acrylic painted black from the inside.
