G6/G7 will be too cost-prohibitive to make.

Yes they will but I bet anything a G6 will get made, perhaps only 1 or 2, but it will happen is my feeling.

Do you and I currently encompass the entirety of the "Storm G5 owners club"?

nikhsub - just liked over to Slouch from your sig and read that whole thread.

Wow. I have to respect that level of ignorance when its backed by the superior force of a small mind. I can't believe you spend your time posting some place like that.

Speaking of - when/where is a good PolarFlo review ph?

(slightly off-topic sorry)

More focused on the G5s - how do you like it? I'm thinking of throwing one on the new s939 box I'm building to match it with the Cascade on my s940 FX box. IF I can get in the queue for one.

Honestly i dont know how I got to that thread... i dont post there much at all, the whole lot over there are pretty ignorant in all respects. I'm ashamed to say the G5 has not been installed yet and ive had it nearly a month... been too busy to tear down that rig, it is my main work machine. Will do so maybe this weekend or next week, along with the RD-30.

Default Cathar's "TODO" list

Currently only Ph and nikhsub1 have a G5 other than myself. A while back I posted on the website that the machinists were too busy with the pre-Christmas rush with their more affluent clients to even contemplate working on a batch of G5's, and so the G5 batch had to be pushed back until late Jan before work can even begin on it.

After the G5 batch goes ahead, I'll also be making a very small number (5) of the G6's. I won't be making any more of the G6's ever, they are purely an experimental block where I've worked in a few more tweaks to the basic design, over and above the increased complexity, to eke out yet more gains.

Presently I have a TEC chiller design in the works that may evolve into a GPU block. I make no promises on the GPU block thing though. IMO, GPU mounting methods are still too ineffectual, and too non-standard. I don't really expect people to employ the same mounting methods that I use myself, which always seems to be a customised hack depending on the video card at hand.

Anyway, the first goal of this next thing is to be a TEC based water-chiller, about as high and long as a CD-ROM, but only half as wide. I have a friend exploring the electronics of constructing an electronic hygrometer based current-driven power supply for the TEC's to automatically keep the water temps at either just above dew-point, or to keep the water temps at something that the user dials in.

The main goal here is to keep the water down at around 10C or so when overclocking heavily. In practise I guess I'll find out whether or not it works. With luck I'll have the prototype going before Christmas, but without the auto hygrometer power thing initially.

What, the C-Clamp on the video card and GPU clock is to ghetto for you?
( my solution for Slot 1, Slot A, and GPU cooling )

Personally, I always thought that swifty's GPU mounting method to be pretty smart. I mean if a person needed to adapt the block they could simply purchase a piece of 1/16" Alum and make a braket (dremel required of course).

One thing though, if you do happen to make a GPU block and are open to requests, please make it tall enough to clear the tall ram sinks that are being used these days. I had to remove the stock ram sink from my FX5950 to fit my Maze4 GPU and I was like WTF, don't these companies use their own products???

Then there is the potenial added benifit of allowing the end user to turn the block to 3, 6 or 9 o'clock for ease of mounting/routing. I know I am pushing it's just your the Lingenfelter of water blocks, and I wanna see a Storm GPU.

Or design the inner workings of a waterblock, and sell it, letting the company design and adapt the mounting system for differnt video cards. How hard can it be to design a decent mounting system?

I'm sure someone at Swiftech could do it
