Default nf4 chipset needs watercooling?

i know that water cooling the previous chipsets is a waste, but i noticed that the new nf4 chipset gets a lot hotter than the nf3. i mean, it was literally burning hot whereas the nf3 chipset never really got that hot. i'm wondering if it's worth it to water cool these new chipsets and if so, how would you rate the silverprop nexus sx vs. danger den maze4.

I've seen a few referances to this higher chipset heat at Xtreme Resources, but I've not seen any exact wattage figures. I'd like to know myself just how much one of these chipsets puts out both stock & when running a high O/C, but I've not seen any estimates on that yet.

Both those chipset blocks are offered with brass tops, so no corrosion risks. Performance wise I would expect the Nexus to do a bit better due to the micro channel design. Another consideration would be pressure drop, and from what I've read the Maze4's is pretty low which is also a plus.

Even with a good high head pump such as your 50Z I'd still go with the lower pressure drop for myself. Idea being I'd rather keep the flow up for the CPU & GPU.

thanks blackeagle. i'm trying to find a chipset block that will fit with graphics cards installed. there's not much headroom on this motherboard. was thinking the zalman vga waterblock, but it's got 3/8 plugs, i'm using 7/16.
