Hi;
In the process of building my WC rig (finally started). I would like to know if you think these two solutions are usable. The water: ![]() The algeacide: ![]() The water is deionized and microfiltered and it says on the label that it is equivalent to distilled. Algaecide content (as it appears on the label): Poly[(oxyethylene dimethylimino) ehtylene-(dimethylimino) ethylene dichloride]......60%. Stuff... :shrug: Oh yeah, and my system is copper only, PVC and one bit of rubber adapter (for the pump). That's all I'll be using. Am I walking down the path to nightmare? Thanks! |

A related question then.
![]() If the deionized/distilled water is exposed to the air (through the reservoir), does it "lose" its deionized state, making it corrosive to metal? Is it therefore better to seal the water cooling circuit? |

I don't remember where I read it, but I think it's actually not a good idea to use deionized water, at least with some metals. Because the water has no ions, it pulls them from the metal, causing corrosion. I don' t think ionized water is more corrosive than deionized. I personally only used distilled water with anticorrives and algicide.
After a very quick Google search, I found a short webpage that describes the reasoning. A little more time should probably find more/better explainations. |
