Default Cut Out The Free Pyramid Scheme Crap Links!

I've been banning anyone who spams the forums with them, but I never made an announcement. Consider this an announcement:

I don't care if it works. I don't care if the ipod you're scheming for is for the UNICEF "give a third world child dying of cancer Apple products" program and not for your fat ass. I don't care if the free products are delivered by hot naked women who work on commission. Don't post that crap here. Seriously, don't.

I think they're actually automated bots, which search for the forums via google and such, that's the trouble. My Unis forums were hit by a porn advertisement I've seen all over other boards, the exact same workings, and the forum I'm talking about is usually pretty desolate. Not sure warning's going to do much.

Some Forums have started to use that "type this code here" feature, where some letters/numbers are distorted and slapped over a grid in a graph; required for signup.

I gurantee if I ever spam, which I wouldn't, it will be for absolutely gorgeous and "friendly" naked babes delivering free Prometia Athlon FX/Swiftech H20 SLI rigs to your door with no prior or subsequent committments upon receiving the goods and "services."

they are not bots, these are real people since they are registering, entering the funky image code.

They are just freaks.

Also we can put a time delay in place for how long you need to be registered to post, like a 1 day delay would defeat any bot on its own, but also will make the lazy bitch leusers who post those links find something else to do.

It would also stop people from registering just to post a useful response to a topic. I think that probably happens more than the forums get spammed.

People are shamless. Instant username and IP bans get my vote. Although they probably have many IP's.

There are plenty of times, when, searching for something on the web, I run across a technical question I can answer - but usually I'm not allowed to unless I jump through a bunch of hoops. I certainly understand why - but I usually don't bother trying more than "registering".
I wonder if there is a way for those of us registered here to be able to mark something as spam - enough "votes" and it disappears until/if one of the managers gets a look at it...? I'm all for taking whatever load off their shoulders we can...

well there is a report bad post button... on each post...
perhaps adding a button as "Vote as Spam"
and haveing the vote weighted acording to number of postes or length of time user was registered.
so that someone can't just register multiple time to post something as spam..

I don't see any problem with contests like that. We're just trying to get rid of the free***.com crap where you have to sign people up for stuff.
