Default New comp.. asus A8N sli block

Just finished building my new rig and assembling the new watercooling system and thought i'd share a few observations as well as ask a couple questions..

first off, wow things go better the second time through.. heh.. the first time i did all this i was constantly fighting an extremely slow leak right at the radiator barbs.. this time i used plastic hose clamps from voyeur mods and everything is rock solid.. it's nice not having to worry about that anymore..

so the loop goes like this:

thermalright 120.3 rad -> DDC pump -> swiftech cpu block -> dangerden asus a8n sli chipset block -> back to rad

now this motherboard is infamous for having problems with the stock chipset cooler.. if you wanna read more about that just go to the anandtech forums.. there's a HUUUGE thread all about it here:

http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...readid=1485553

but what i'm finding odd is that the chipset temp sensor is still reporting 39C idle, ~43C load, while the cpu says its only 29C idle, ~31C load. surely the water isn't heating up THAT much from the x2 3800+ cpu?

even the cpu around 29C seems high to me after being used to seeing idle temps right around 1-2 degrees C above ambient on my old overclocked p4.. but perhaps the temp sensors are just in slightly different places?

anyone with lots of knowledge on the subject happen to know where exactly the sensors are on this cpu/chipset? would a Y-configuration give me much cooler temps by putting all the cold water right onto the cpu AND chipset rather than goin from one to the other or is that not worth all the trouble?

btw ambient in my apartment is right around 24C

as for observations, the dangerden asus a8n sli block is quite nice, but it doesn't appear to mount perfectly square.. i'll upload my pics when i get the chance later today
