Default Use the Wiki!

Well we have the real ProCooling Cooling Wiki online. Iceheart got it all setup a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to point you all to it!

This was something that we were asked to do for the community, now its time for the community to start making it a useful database for cooling related info. Its located at http://wiki.procooling.com and uses your forum user ID's.

Thanks to Ice for getting this all setup... now I hope its used!

I need to come up with a good way to organize this damn thing. It's daunting to populate it right now, but if we had more of an outline I think we'd start filling it in.

I am very much a wiki neophyte so I dont even know where to go on it, or how to make it more "useable". if you want to take up getting that thing in an order that you think would make it more functional please feel free pH!

woo! first contribution? I had to goto class so I stopped mid-article, once I finish copper I'll write a few for some other common materials

ohh and I nominate we make a "materials" section as copper doesn't really fit in anything.

I'm good at classifying/categorizing things.

I propose the following separations;
-setting up an air cooled PC
-using and maintaining an air cooled PC
-setting up a water cooled PC
-using and maintaining a water cooled PC

From there we could break it down into the components, and/or a general "how to" guide. How about a selection guide? There are many ways to do this; is there a format that works best for a Wiki?

I propose that we leave out anything about measurement and testing, at least for now.

where would be the fun in leaving something out.

I'm writing some science stuff but condensing half a masters engineering course into heat and mass transfer for dummies is harder than harden nail at a millwall match

my problem is that 1 pg = 1 hr composition time (to get it right), no quicky answers in fluid mech or thermo
kinda beyond me just now

That old adage comes to mind: "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time."

We could make some articles in the air and water cooling sections talking about the pros and cons.
Doesn't have to be too technical (no need for a whitepaper, per se), kind of a "why we bother" thing.

Done some extensive editing of the Wiki;

I put an article about basic heat transfer applied to watercooling, made the links in wiki's front page point to categories, made Materials one of them and put Metarinka article there; expecting to do some more.

Attempted to explain watercooling for dummies and edit the science bit but failed miserably after 1 hour so i placed the equations of what i did in the interesting stuff section and may go back and edit things latter.

I wanted to be complete ie. turbulence exists due to fluid momentum overriding viscous forces -> it is random but can be equationed away be reynolds averaging -> The point where is brought on is based on the reynolds number -> reynolds number is a factor in the non-dimensional navier stokes equations -> it defines fluid friction

But as you can see this kinda stuff takes time.

Plus there is still some dream caster stuff i need to edit to take it to my level

yes it does, just spent a good 2 hours putting down just about everything that I thought would be relevant for copper pipe in water cooling and phase change. I know there are grammar and spelling mistakes abound but its 2am so don't shoot me.
that's almost completely off the top of my head (although I am a welding major so I do this a lot) www.copper.org publishes an extremely useful free guide that has everything you want to know about copper pipe and the various grades and I referenced it once or twice.
should I do a brazing article? (also doens't have a section yet, maybe tools and a techniques section?) welding is something I could go WAY to far into and also it would be a little better if I knew how to include pictures.

Yes you should I think it goes in materials section; it seems to me that creating sub categories should be easy, as for now I'm putting my teeth upon the main page and will also mail some guys to contribute to wiki.
To upload pictures the toolbox in the left hand side of wiki pages has an Upload file that is to upload image files

Try registering a name that doesn't have a space in it.
