Default Spam, Life, and HTPCs

So a couple things:

1. Spammers on the site are pissing me off. I am pretty close to just closing new user registration! Or forcing everyone to post in a certain forum a few times before they get the all-clear to post other places.

I understand that the site is more or less a head stone for what once was a pretty good cooling site, but wtf people. Also thanks to the MOD's who are still around here keeping an eye on the Spam problems, and helping clean it up!

2. Life: So in the last few weeks I moved from my home state of WI out to Denver, CO. Awesome change of scenery, and overall a good move. The amazing thing was of the roughly 7 or 8 PC's and laptops we moved, not a one was damaged, and out of the ~35 HD's in these boxes, none crashed in the move.

3. HTPCs. So I built a new HTPC from scratch to handle everything in my living room in the new place. I wrote up the build a bit on the AVSforum site

The build info is here:

and some pics are here:

Since that pic, there is a Ceton InfiniTV card in it for cable card capture (I dont have it in use yet, but its installed), and a 2TB AV spec WD drive just idle at this point. We are holding off on getting cable TV until we need it... so far torrents work better than the DVR we had and its saving us over $80/mo.

The rig is silent, and now that I have the codec issues sorted, its great at everything!

There is places like freelancer.com were people pay others to spam forums. It is pretty rediculous how out of hand it gets. I have tried in the past to stop in and remove stuff but the last month I have been busy with other issues.

Making new people post in one forum sounds like a good idea. It would make spam searching much easier. Most of the stuff here other than the Snap forum can pretty much just be an archive.

I also bought a 2TB AV WD hardrive. I planned on hooling it up to a TV card but have yet to get around to it. I have been streaming netflix over a PC with to a HDTV but would like to record cable channels to computer. I will look over what you got for ideas...

Good deal on the move. I may move back to my home town soon if I get the job up there. I would finally be able to get my CNC mill back up and start making parts for various stuff.

It would have been quite a bit more amazing, if all these computers and hard drives were running as they were moved.
