On my old athlon board (k7v) there was a cache divider that could be altered in the BIOS, what are the limitations of the BIOS and what all it can alter?
Could voltage modifications be done that way? |

I'm not sure I understand the question... the BIOS can do pretty much whatever AMD and Intel will let us.

It started what H-Oda did with cache speed altering when he edited the bios to include it, after that a few others made programs that did the same thing, the effect of that was that I was able to get an extra 100MHz out of my overclock
![]() It is really whatever Abit, Asus ect, ect ... what can the BIOS do though if you know how to mess with it? I think they can do a hell of a lot more, like multiplier in the new T-Bird boards and I am wondering if voltage can be done the same way? |

The KT7 manipulates voltage through the BIOS...

I know that but can it be altered even more through editing the BIOS code, the problem with my board (KT7-RAID) can only go to 1.85V and I dont't want to do the soldering trick (allows 2.0V-2.12V) because I don't want to kill my board and not be able to RMA it.

I love the board ... but not the soldering skillz ... I am talking to a BIOS developer about it he has a pretty good idea.
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?threadid=72928 is where I am talking to him if you want to add in anything ![]() |
