Default SCSI prob...

my ultraplex Wide isnt being detected by windows or linux, it is the only device on the chain and there is a terminator on the end of the cable.. my aha-2940UW can detect it, and when i try to boot from the drive it tells me to reboot.. weirdness, i really hope it isnt broke, the thing set me back a few bones.. :\

Your SCSI controler detects it and negotiates fine? But windows doesnt see it?

you try booting with a DOS disk, wiht the ASPI8DOS drivers loaded and doing a ASPICD.sys type thing and then the MSCDEX deal to see if it will detect that way in DOS?

( you can tell I have used SCSI way back into teh DOS days ASPI2DOS all the way!)

Also, if you have Adaptec's EZScsi software (should have come with the card), you can use the SCSI explorer to scan the bus and see if it is detected with windows booted up You might want to look on Adaptec's support page for the 2940UW as well, there is a ton of info related to various compatibility issues, etc.

when the card loads up it's SCSI bios at bootup, you should be able to hit Ctrl+A and you will enter the bios of the card, there you can make sure it's picking up the drives and change options and such.
